Stacking Offenses to Target for FanDuel DFS
Miami Marlins
The Marlins get an early game (12:10) versus Eric Stults to get things going and it’s another great opportunity to fade the Braves. Stults has a career 5.29 ERA versus the Fins and multiple Marlins have had success vs Stults, including Michael Morse (.429, HR), Martin Prado (.385, HR), and Marcell Ozuna (.300). Stults only gave up three runs through five innings last time out versus NYM, but his tendency to start season’s slow (5.49 career ERA in April) has me thinking this is a good chance to pounce early.
New York Yankees
Today represents the getaway game for New York and Baltimore and I expect a high-scoring event. Vegas have the O/U set at 8.5, the highest of the day, and I think the Yankees represent a great opportunity for stacking. Opposing pitcher Bud Norris was awful his first time out, surrendering eight runs in just three innings. Current Yankees have had great success vs Norris, including Stephen Drew (7-for-19, 4 XBH), Carlos Beltran (9-for-27, 5 XBH), and Chase Headley (7-for-17, 2 HR). Stack those pinstripes.
DFS Starting Pitchers To Consider for FanDuel
Lance Lynn – SP - Cardinals ($8400)
Lynn is coming off a strong performance his last outing (6 IP, 1 ER, 9 K) and he has a lifetime 2.26 ERA vs the Brewers. If you want to pay for a pitcher, Lynn is your guy.
Jonathan Niese – SP – Mets ($7,800)
Niese isn’t tradionally a heavy K pitcher, but facing the Phillies (8.37 K/9, 3.00 ERA) seems to bring out the best in him.
Drew Pomeranz – SP – A’s ($6,700)
Pomeranz doesn’t go long into games but he does represent a cheap option for Ks. He punched out six last time out over six scoreless against Seattle and Houston is striking out at a historical rate.
DFS Catchers To Consider for FanDuel
Miguel Montero - C – Cubs ($3,100)
Montero has been ice cold to start 2015, but his lifetime numbers vs Jason Marquis (7-for-20, 4 HR) are just too good to pass up at this price.
Wilson Ramos – C - Nationals ($3,000)
Ramos isn’t off to the best start at the plate (4-for-24), but Wade Miley might be the trick. He has a lifetime .311 AVG and .819 OPS vs LHP and is 2-for-3 lifetime vs Miley.
DFS Infielders To Consider for FanDuel
Jose Abreu – 1B – Sox ($4,200)
Abreu gets a favorable matchup vs Trevor Bauer, whom he is a lifetime 3-for-4 against. He hit a blast last night is getting warm. Grab him while the price is low.
Eric Hosmer – 1B - Royals ($3,500)
Hosmer has been off his best start statistically and the Royals as a team are hot. Hosmer is a lifetime 3-for-9 vs Kyle Gibson and makes a solid cheap-end 1B.
DJ LeMahieu – 2B – Rockies ($3,300)
LeMahieu is hitting over .500 and has an eight game hitting streak to start the year. He’s 4-for-13 against Lincecum and is a solid option as long as he stays hot.
Stephen Drew – 2B – Yankees ($2,700)
Drew has starting the season off strong for New York, and his lifetime success vs Bud Norris (7-for-19, 4 XBH) makes him an excellent cheap option for 2B.
Troy Tulowitski – SS – Rockies ($5,000)
At $5,000 you’re definitely paying a premium for Tulo, but he’s off to a torrid start to 2015 and is 8 for his last 25 against Lincecum. This is the game Tulo gets in the HR department.
Jose Ramirez - SS – Indians ($2,700)
Ramirez represents a cheaper version of Alcides Escobar basically. He’s a lifetime 2-for-3 versus John Danks and is a great option for cheap speed.
Adrian Beltre – 3B – Rangers ($3,900)
Beltre flat out owns Hector Santiago. He’s a lifetime 6-for-15 with 3 HRs and makes for a great bet for a big fly on Wednesday.
Chase Headley – 3B – Yankees ($3,200)
Headley falls into the stacking strategy and is a lifetime 7-for-17 (.412) vs Bud Norris including 2 HR. He makes for a good option for power in the discount aisle.
DFS Outfielders To Consider for FanDuel
Nelson Cruz – OF – Mariners ($4,300)
You never leave the table on a heater. Cruz has now homered in four straight games and has a HR already to his name versus Brett Anderson. Chances are he won’t repeat but if it happens it’s on my squad.
Matt Holliday – OF – Cardinals ($3,500)
Holliday has a seven-game hitting streak to start 2015 and has a great track record against Wily Peralta, batting 9-for-29 with 2 HRs. I’m surprised he’s this cheap.
Desmond Jennings – OF – Rays ($3,200)
Jennings represents a quality power-speed combo at a low price range. He has three steals in his past two games and has a favorable matchup against Mark Buerhle (9-for-22 lifetime).
Carlos Beltran – OF – Yankees ($2,900)
Beltran has been terrible so far but he falls into my stacking strategy. He’s 9-for-27 lifetime vs Bud Norris with 5 2B, but I can understand if you decide to look elsewhere for OF help.
