Welcome back for another exciting day of daily fantasy baseball. It's Saturday and that means day baseball. There are nine games in the afternoon today leaving us with just six in the evening.
Another great spot to get your Rockies/Padres stacks in at Coors Field. The Padres came from behind to stun the home on Friday night and you can expect another high scoring game this afternoon. On top of the great spot for a stack we have two stud pitcher son the bump in Jose Fernandez and Jake Arrieta.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for FanDuel on 6/11/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on FanDuel.
DFS Lineup Stacks to Target for FanDuel
I won't get into the obvious choice of the Rockies in Coors Field as they get an elite matchup vs. Erik Johnson who can't keep the ball in the park and now gets to experience the best hitters park in the major leagues. Lock and load.
Blue Jays Top Four Hitters vs. Mike Wright
The Jays are coming off a huge walk off win last night which should ignite the team going in to Saturday. Josh Donaldson looks to have gotten his swing back after lingering issues with his wrist. It was Edwin that ended the game with an opposite field bomb last night and Michael Saunders has been the most consistent hitter for the Jays all season hitting in the cleanup spot. Jose Bautista has sat out the game on Friday night but was available off the bench and should be back in the leadoff spot on Saturday. If he sits out again you can get nice value with Ezequiel Carrera who would most likely move into the leadoff spot. They will face Mike Wright who is running a 5.14 ERA with a 14.5% HR/FB rate.
Both Sides of the Red Sox vs. Twins Matchup
This is the ugliest pitching matchup of the day and presents a nice stacking option from both sides of the diamond. The Twins will be at home facing Eduardo Rodriguez who has struggled in his first two starts giving up seven earned runs while only striking out three in 11.2 innings pitched. He is also coming off a game in which the Jays destroyed him for four long balls.
On the other side of the ball you can always consider stacking the Red Sox who have scored a league high 342 runs rank 1st in wOBA(.357), wRC+(122) and OPS(.835) vs. right handed pitching. Today they will face Kyle Gibson who has been awful in his four starts this season giving up 14 earned runs, striking out just 11 while walking 12 batters. This game could easily be the highest scoring game of the day which is brave to say when there is action at Coors Field.
Seattle Mariners vs. Colby Lewis
With just six game in the evening slate there are limited stacking options. The Mariners present some upside as they rank 4th in wOBA(.342) and 3rd in wRC+(120) vs. right handed pitching and have scored the fourth most total runs(303) in the league. They will get a matchup vs. Colby Lewis who has been impressive to start the year going 5-0 but is due for some regression when analyzing the peripheral numbers. He is only striking out 6.04 batters per nine innings and his 4.66 xFIP suggests the 3.20 ERA is not here to stay for long. The big difference for Lewis is his BABIP of .264 which is over 30 points lower than his career average. He has struggled more against left hand bats so expect the Mariners to go lefty heavy making Norichika Aoki, Seth Smith, Robinson Cano, Kyle Seager and Adam Lind all great options.
Also Consider - Miami Marlins vs. Zach Godley
DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel
Jake Arrieta (SP,CHC) $12,300
With two studs on the mound today you are going to have to make the tough decision unless you are rolling multiple lineups or playing both slates separately. For only $300 more Arrieta should be clear choice in a much better matchup. Despite suffering his first loss of the season last time out vs. the D Backs he ended up with 12 strikeouts with just one walk in five innings pitched. He gets an elite matchup vs. the Braves who rank dead last in wOBA and wRC+ vs. right handed pitching.
Also Consider - Chris Archer (SP,TB) $9,700
Justin Verlander (SP,DET) $9,200
In the six game evening slate most people will be gravitating towards Jose Fernandez and for good reason. He has a K rate north of 13 and huge fantasy upside. For tournaments, if you want to go a bit contrarian Verlander can be that guy that separates you from the field if Fernandez has an average start. In his last six starts, the former CY Young winner has been lights out with a 2.01 ERA and 10.48 K/9 rate. It is risky as Yankee stadium is a great hitters park but worth the risk as the Yankees rank 23rd in wOBA(.305) vs. right handed pitching. If you don't like risks just roll with Fernandez.
Also Consider - James Paxton (SP,SEA) $7,300
DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel
Buster Posey (C,SF) $3,200
He returned to the lineup after missing three games this week with a thumb injury and had a double and a run batted in vs. the Dodgers. His unusually slow start to the season has kept his price down presenting some value as he is one of the best hitting catchers in the game. While the average is disappointing, the power continues to be a strength as he has hit eight long balls and a 108 wRC+.
Jose Abreu (1B,CWS) $3,300
He s starting to bring the numbers back up after a slow start. He now has hits in six of his last seven games including five multi hit games. We haven't seen the power return to full form yet but it should be close behind as he is still hitting with a 32% hard hit ball rate. Gets decent matchup vs. lefty Danny Duffy.
Jurickson Profar (2B,TEX) $3,100
He is making it hard for the Rangers to consider sending him back down when everyone is healthy. After being called up May 27 he has produced a hit in all 13 games he has played while hitting leadoff. He has also been very versatile playing first base, second base and now third base since Adrian Beltre has been hurt. The price is still reasonable making him safe in all formats.
Eduardo Nunez (SS,MIN) $3,500
It is now June and Eduardo Nunez is still hitting out of his mind for the Twins. In the last two weeks he is hitting .362 with five home runs and a 175 wRC+. He provides value in multiple categories as his season numbers show a .330 average with nine home runs, 24 batted in, with 31 runs scored and 12 stolen bases. He has also hit lefties to the tune of a .333 average.
Jhonny Peralta (3B,STL) $2,400
After spending the first two months on the disable list, Peralta returned to the lineup June 7th and has recorded multiple hits in three of his four games. The price is sitting in the mid $2K range leaving a great value if you want to save up at the position.
DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel
Carlos Gonzalez (OF,COL) $4,400
Cargo is in another terrific spot at home on Saturday. He is hitting cleanup in a great hitters environment and gets an elite matchup today. The Rockies will face Erik Johnson who will be taking the mound for the Padres today. In two starts so far this year, Johnson has been down right awful giving up five home runs in 11.2 innings with a 6.94 ERA. Expect another high scoring game today.
Robbie Grossman (OF,MIN) $3,200
Another Twins hitter who should be targeted today in a potential high scoring game vs. the Red Sox. Grossman has spent each of the last four games in the number two spot in the order and has produced with hits in all four. In 20 games with the Twins he has hit .333 with four long balls, 14 RBI and 12 runs scored. He is walking 19.5% of the time and is currently hitting the ball at a 36% hard ht ball rate. Great choice for nay format in the mid $3K range.
Mac Williamson (OF,SF) $2,200
With Hunter Pence back on the disabled list Williamson has been platooning with Jarret Parker in right field. Parker has faced the right handed pitchers while Williamson will get at bats vs. the lefties. It is not confirmed but I assume it will be Williamson today as the Giants will face Scott Kazmir. Williamson has added hits in back to back starts for the Giants and will look to build on that today. He provides excellent punt value in any format.
