We've got a full menu to choose from tonight with all 30 teams in action and all 15 games being held in the evening. First pitch of the main slate, as usual, is 7:05 EDT. There are a pair of aces going today and a handful with medium risk, high reward potential. I'll get to my favorites in just a minute.
The hitters with the highest positive park factors working in their favor tonight are the Rockies and Diamondbacks hitters at Coors, the Royals and Yankees left-handed bats at Yankee Stadium, the Reds and Pirates right-handed batters at Great American Ballpark, and the White Sox and Rangers left-handed batters at the Ballpark at Arlington.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for FanDuel on 5/10/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on FanDuel.
DFS Lineup Stacks to Target for FanDuel
Red Sox versus Sean Manaea
I'm going to pick on the young southpaw here with a hefty Red Sox stack. Meanaea is making just his third major league start and faces a power hitting veteran offense in a park that isn't very pitcher friendly. In two starts, Manaea has allowed two home runs, eight earned runs and has issued five walks. I think the Red Sox, who have a run expectacny of five, get to Manaea early and often here. The guys I have my eye on the most are Jackie Bradley Jr. Mookie Betts, Travis Shaw and Xander Bogaerts.
Athletics against Sean O'Sullivan
As much as I love the Red Sox stack today, I'm almost equally intrigued by the Athletics. Their guys are listed at much more desirable prices and they also face a less than stellar pitcher in Sean O'Sullivan. O'Sullivan has only pitched out of the pen this year, but his starts last season were atrocious. He had a handful of games in which he pitched five innings or less but allowed multiple home runs. His average HR/9 over the last 12 months is over 1.9 and he rarely strikes out any hitters. The Athletics I have me eye on the most are Chris Coghlan, Mark Canha, Khris Davis, Josh Reddick and Danny Valencia. It's a value stack with power upside as their hitters get a major park boost.
Also Consider: White Sox versus Derek Holland
DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel
Jacob deGrom (SP, LAD) - $10,500
I'll be honest, Jon Lester earned the top spot on my starting pitcher cash game list today, but I don't think there's any chance they get the game in. I'm a Chicagoan and it hasn't stopped raining in days and there isn't any end to the rain in sight. Anyway, the gap between Lester and deGrom was small for me anyways, and Jacob saves us $500 in the process. He has a strong matchup with the Dodgers in an excellent pitcher's park. The Dodgers have a decent team wOBA against right-handed pitching this season at .298, but they also strike out in nearly 28% of their at-bats. The strikeout upside is always there for deGrom, and even more so today.
Adam Conley (SP, MIA) - $8,400
I like to look to guys at the middle and lower tiers (price-wise) for tournament pitchers with strikeout upside. Though his price has risen a bit too high for my liking, I still think Adam Conley is your best bet in tournaments today if you're not going to spend up on the likes of deGrom or Lester. Thus far in 2016, Conley has pitched pretty well and he's shown us that he's got some strong pitches in his repertoire. He's averaging 8.6 K/9, under 1.0 HR/9, and he has an excellent matchup today against the lowly Brewers offense in pitcher-friendly Miami.
Also Consider: Kevin Gausman (SP, BAL) - $7,700 (GPP)
DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel
Catcher (C)
Wellington Castillo (C, ARI) - $4,100
Castillo is priced up today thanks to the Coors effect, but you'd be hard pressed to find a catcher with a better matchup either way in my opinion. Castillo faces a weak opposing starter in Chris Rusin and most importantly, he sports a wOBA and ISO that are 80 and 100 points higher, respectively, when facing left-handed pitching.
Stephen Vogt (C, OAK) - $2,600
If you're looking to fade Coors, save some cash, or both - Stephen Vogt is the man for the job. He hasn't been hitting with a ton of power this season, but I think he might take advantage of Pesky Pole tonight. He faces a Quad A starter in Sean O'Sullivan and sports a wOBA and ISO that are 50 and 100 points higher, respectively, when facing right-handers. I also think he'll have ample RBI opportunities as the Athletics should chase O'Sullivan early.
First Base (1B)
Justin Bour (1B, MIA) - $3,300
The options at first base today are plentiful, but I just can't resist Bour - even in a pitcher's park. The lefty slugger has a great matchup with a below average pitch in Zach Davies. He also sports an excellent ISO against right-handed pitching at .237 and a solid wOBA at .346.
Second Base (2B)
Brandon Phillips (2B, CIN) - $2,900
I've got two favorites at second base today, but I'm giving preference to B-Phil as he's listed at a far better price and I think he could go overlooked on this crowded slate. He has one of the best positive park factors numbers today (right-handed batters at Great American) and in the past 15 days he has a very impressive hard hit rate of 44%. He's also been swinging the bat much better lately and his wOBA against right-handed pitchers is up to .330 now.
Also Consider: Daniel Murphy (2B, WAS) - $3,800
Shortstop (SS)
Jimmy Rollins (SS, CHW) - $3,000
I'm considering Mr. Rollins my "punt" of the day. He's listed a bit pricier than most punts, but take a look at the field of shortstops and name one with a more favorable matchup that isn't playing at Coors and doesn't have a price over 4K. It's tough. And that brings me to Rollins' matchup - he faces atrocious lefty Derek Holland and also owns an incredibly impressive .397 wOBA against southpaws this season.
Third Base (3B)
Brandon Drury (3B, ARI) - $3,800
Like Brandon Phillips, Drury also sports an impressive hard hit rate of 44% over the past 15 days. You know what happens to hard hit baseballs at Coors, right? He faces a weak opposing starter and also owns a .220 ISO against southpaws in 2016.
DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel
Carlos Gonzalez (OF, COL) - $3,900
I'm fading Coors at several positions, but there are a few outfielders with much a price and matchup that's too desirable to ignore. CarGo has monstrous numbers against right-handed batters this season - .430 wOBA and .323 ISO. Find a way to get him in your cash and GPP lineups and reap the benefits.
Yasmany Tomas (OF, ARI) - $3,900
If Tomas is unable to go tonight (he's listed as DTD), I'll counter with a value pick like Mark Canha. If he is cleared to play, however, he'll find his way into the majority (if not all) of my lineups. A sub 4K price tag at Coors seems strange to me, especially given the fact that he faces a subpar pitcher and has impressive splits - .397 wOBA and a .256 ISO.
Jackie Bradley Jr. (OF, BOS) - $3,300
Even if he's once against hitting at the bottom of the lineup, I'm happy to have JBJ in my GPP lineups. The Red Sox as a whole have an excellent matchup and Jackie is once again looking like the Red Sox centerfielder of the future. He sports a hard hit rate of 48% over the past two weeks and his season ISO against southpaws has risen to .209.
Also Consider: Mark Canha (OF, OAK) - $2,100
