Welcome to the shortest little MLB slate you ever did meet. We have two games scheduled today, and it would only be one if not for the San Francisco Giants' late game heroics.
As of this writing, there is a lot of uncertainty about tonight's slate. There are projected starting pitchers, but some starters haven't been named. In fact, there is so much uncertainty that I can't find Vegas spreads, moneylines, or over/unders on any of the sites I frequent. As for park factors tonight, there's not a lot of insight I can give you, unfortunately. The game being played at Dodgers stadium is a better park for hitters, but that's not saying a whole lot.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for FanDuel on 10/11/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on FanDuel.
DFS Lineup Stacks to Target for FanDuel
The Los Angeles Dodgers middle of the order versus Joe Ross (tentative)
My apologies if the Nationals happen to pitch Max Scherzer on short rest. Even if they do, attacking him with the middle of the Dodgers order might not be a bad strategy anyway. This game is being played in the better hitters' park of the two, and if Joe Ross is on the bump, he's the least talented pitcher of the four taking the mound tonight. For the season, Ross, has been solid, but of the four pitchers in action tonight, he has the worst WHIP (1.34) and the lowest K/9 rate at 8.1. My plan to attack Joe Ross is with the following Dodgers hitters - Justin Turner, Corey Seager, Yasmani Grandal and Joc Pederson. All are home run threats, and together they have an average ISO split of .254 - the best ISO split of any four-some today.
Also Consider: Chicago Cubs right-handed batters versus Matt Moore
DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel
John Lackey (SP, CHC) - $9,200
For a handful of reasons, my money is on John Lackey tonight as the safest and most valuable FanDuel play. There is still uncertainty about the starting pitchers for Washington and Los Angeles, and if a big name pitcher happens to start in either of those games they will be incredibly high owned and also pitching on short rest. Lackey has a lot of playoff experience, is pitching in the better pitcher's park of the two contests this evening, and he sports a hard hit rate of just 25% over his past three starts. On top of that, the Giants offense has been fairly anemic this postseason and I think the Cubs give him enough run support to put him in line for a victory. For the season, Lackey has a solid 1.07 WHIP and a good 8.7 K/9 rate.
DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel
Catcher (C)
Yasmani Grandal (C, LAD) - $2,900
Grandal has very strong splits, especially for the position, and he's a nice value listed under 3K. For the year, he owns a very impressive .266 ISO split against right-handers.
First Base (1B)
Adrian Gonzalez (1B, LAD) - $2,900
Like his teammate Yasmani, Gonzalez is an excellent value play tonight, especially if Joe Ross is on the bump for the Nationals. Over the past 15 days, Gonzalez has 42% hard hit rate over the past 15 days and a .480 slugging percentage split for the season.
Second Base (2B)
Ben Zobrist (2B, CHC) - $3,100
It is slim pickin's tonight all across the board, but especially at second base. Zobrist is listed at a fair price, hits in the middle of the order that I believe should have success tonight, and his splits favor facing southpaws. For the 2016 season, Zobrist has a .369 wOBA split.
Shortstop (SS)
Addison Russell (SS, CHC) - $2,500
Another fantastic value, Russell has the kind of splits you chase on a slate like today. Corey Seager will likely be the most popular shortstop, but he is a boat-load more expensive and Russell actually owns a higher ISO split (.237) than Seager does.
Third Base (3B)
Kris Bryant (3B, CHC) - $3,900
There is so much value among the other infield positions today that spending up on Bryant isn't going to break the bank or keep you from rostering whomever your heart desires. He has the ability to terrorize lefties, as supported by his .423 wOBA and .310 ISO splits.
DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel
Jayson Werth (OF, WAS) - $3,200
Werth is a bit of a risky play today, but to be honest, there aren't many that come without risk. I'll take my chances with a talented veteran against Kershaw (on short rest) or whomever the Dodgers trot out (likely Urias if not Kershaw). Werth's splits strongly favor facing left-handed pitching, owning a .429 wOBA on the season.
Dexter Fowler (OF, CHC) - $3,600
Fowler has been smacking the ball of late (50% hard hit rate last 15 days) and while his split differentials aren't big this season, they actually do favor facing southpaws. He also has excellent lineup order value, and if he produces in an extra at-bat, that could be the differentiator in placing versus not placing.
Josh Reddick (OF, LAD) - $2,800
Reddick appears to be the best value and upside play of the day in the outfield, a rare combination. He has been destroying the ball in terms of hard contact rate (66%) and line drive rate (50%) over the past two weeks. He has a nice matchup against Joe Ross and excellent lineup order value, too.
