Daily Fantasy College Football: FanDuel Picks for 12/5
I shed a tear or two when I came to the realization that this is the last *true* college football DFS Saturday of the year. There are sure to be a sprinkling of smaller contests on FanDuel throughout bowl season, but nothing like the mega-slates of the regular season on Saturdays. Unfortunately, the noon contest slate is limited to nine games, as opposed to the usual 15+. That said, I'm trying to view this from the glass-half-full lens, so I'm glad we've got nine and happy that there are some teams we're not accustomed to selecting players from.
As always, I like to point out which games have the highest projected point totals, as those are great to target for tournaments. The games with the highest over/under numbers from Vegas this Saturday are: Southern Miss - Western Kentucky (74), Texas State - Arkansas State (69.5), Texas - Baylor (68), and New Mexico State - UL Monroe (59).
Let's get to it, shall we?
FanDuel CFB DFS Quarterback Picks
Fredi Knighten (QB, Arkansas State) - $9,100
The price is high, but the sky is the limit on Saturday for Mr. Knighten. The Red Wolves quarterback is averaging 35 FanDuel points per game over the last two weeks and his matchup this weekend could not be any more appealing. Texas State is atrocious pass defense, ranking 125th on Football Outsiders S&P+ rankings and the game is expected to be very high scoring. Fredi is a threat to tuck it and run, too, which is excellent considering Texas State's run defense is nearly as horrible as their pass defense.
Brandon Doughty (QB, WKU) - $9,500
I'm glad we get a chance to roster ol' reliable once more before the sixth year senior becomes an NFL CFL star. Doughty had a few monster weeks in the early contests in the beginning of the season but was taken away from us when conference play began. If you're unfamiliar with Doughty, he heads up a Hilltopper offense that constantly is on the attack - the majority of which is through the air. He has two stud, reliable targets in Taywan Taylor and Tyler Higbee and matches up incredibly well against the 84th ranked Southern Miss pass defense.
Also Consider: Nick Mullens (QB, Southern Miss) - $7,800
FanDuel CFB DFS Running Back Picks
Anthony Wales (RB, WKU) - $8,600
Wales is a little pricey but he's a strong cash game option with his reliability to get over 100 yards on the ground and the fact he sees a minimum (essentially) of 15 carries a game. He gets fairly involved in the passing game as well and with Southern Miss' struggles against the run and pass, he should have a busy day.
Larry Rose III (RB, New Mexico State) - $7,400
Rose has proven this year he's capable of putting up the type of numbers that separate you from the pack in a GPP as he eclipsed 47 points in back-t0-back weeks mid-season. He's got a healthy workload, a fair price and an opponent that can do little to slow down the run game.
FanDuel CFB DFS Wide Receiver Picks
I decided to switch it up a little this week and and ranked my wide receivers in order of preference. There's quite a few intriguing wideouts and I focused on finding ones with solid floors but with enough upside to be strong GPP plays, too. The majority on this list see more than five targets a game, have home run play cabability and are matched up with weak pass defenses in games with high projected point totals.
- Taywan Taylor (WR, WKU) - $6,900
- Teldrick Morgan (WR, New Mexico State) - $6,000
- Tres Houston (WR, Arkansas State) - $7,200
- Michael Thomas (WR, Southern Miss) - $6,800
- Jordan Bergstrom (WR, New Mexico State) - $5,900
FanDuel CFB DFS Tight End Picks
Keith Rucker (TE, Georgia State) - $4,300
Rucker may not be quite the tight end Tyler Higbee is, but he comes at a better value and at the time when his involvement in the Georgia State offense is peaking. He's produced 20 FanDuel points or more in three of his last four games and I expect he sees 5+ targets on Saturday. Rucker is even more appealing thanks to his involvement in the red zone - the big junior has already pulled in five touchdown catches.
