March Madness starts now. It is the time when college basketball fans know to expect the unexpected-- in regular season finales, conference tournaments, and of course, the Big Dance.
Daily fantasy CBB players though, generally don't like surprises--unless they work out in their favor. They want safe picks. So who are the most reliable FanDuel players for NCAA college basketball DFS action today?
Without further delay, below are our favorite daily fantasy CBB lineup picks for FanDuel DFS games on March 1, 2016.
CBB DFS Guards to Target on FanDuel
Malcolm Brogdon - Virginia (vs Clemson, $9,000)
Brogdon is a solid scorer most nights, but he and the Cavs are particularly hot right now. The guard just dropped 26 in an upset win over North Carolina. Though UVA will be on the road at Clemson, the Tigers are nowhere near as tough defensively as the Tar Heels.
Buddy Hield - Oklahoma (vs Baylor, $9,600)
Sooner or later--sorry--somebody is going to stop Hield (25.4 PPG). But it doesn't figure to be Baylor. OU is coming off a tough loss to Texas, and Hield will have something to prove tonight. He's hardly an under-the-radar pick, but he's as no-brainer as anyone in CBB DFS.
Lester Medford - Baylor (vs Oklahoma, $7,200)
We have a soft spot for Medford, who may be among the most underrated floor generals in the sport. The senior is averaging 9.4 PPG and 7.1 APG, and he's coming off two bad (for him) games in a row, which means he's due.
CBB DFS Forwards to Target on FanDuel
Kris Jenkins - Villanova (vs DePaul, $7,400)
Still smarting from its loss last week to Xavier, Villanova will take out their anger on lowly DePaul tonight. Josh Hart is the known quantity for 'Nova, but Jenkins (11.9 PPG) has been getting better as the season goes along and scoring more of late (15, 20, 22 and 19 points, respectively, in his last four games). Look for him to leave the Blue Demons feeling, well, blue.
Daniel Ochefu - Villanova (vs DePaul, $8,100)
'Nova's Ochefu is a center in a forward's body, and DePaul doesn't have the inside presence to keep him in check. He's a solid play no matter the opponent--10.7 PPG/8.3 RPG/1.7 BPG--but he should have a big night at home for a Wildcats team hoping to right the ship before the conference tournament.
CBB DFS Centers to Target on FanDuel
John Egbunu – Florida (vs Kentucky, $6,800)
Egbunu isn't going to make anyone forget fellow Nigerian Hakeem Olajuwon--yet. But the sophomore center is a solid play at the price, averaging 11.1 PPG, 6.4 RPG and 1.5 blocked shots per contest. He should have a good game at home against Kentucky, which is still reeling from an upset loss to Vandy.
A.J. Hammons - Purdue (vs Nebraska, $8,700)
Hammons isn't sneaking up on anybody. He's Purdue's best player, and he comes at a price. But with a slash line of 14.7 PPG/7.9 RPG/2.6 BPG he's worth it. Plus, the Boilermakers are facing Nebraska, which lacks an inside presence to contend with Hammons.
Chinanu Onuaku - Louisville (vs Georgia Tech, $8,600)
Tuesday will be a big night for big men, and Onuaku is a BIG MAN. This home game marks the last hurrah for the 2015-16 Cardinals, and they will look to close out their tainted season with a dominant performance. Onuaku has posted double-digit scoring outputs in four straight games. He'll make it five tonight.
CBB DFS Players to Avoid on FanDuel
Jamal Murray - Kentucky (vs Florida, $9,600)
Kentucky's fabulous freshman is a player (19.9 PPG), but his Wildcats are coming off a tough, upset loss at Vanderbilt and they are heading into a hostile environment in Gainesville and facing a hungry opponent in Florida. Murray doesn't come cheaply, and for the money you can do better tonight.
Jarrod Uthoff - Iowa (vs Indiana, $8,900)
The bloom may have fallen off Iowa's rose, and though Uthoff (18.5 PPG) is hardly a weed, he and the Hawkeyes will face a tough test in visiting Indiana. We're not writing off Uthoff and Iowa entirely--just for tonight.
