Daily Fantasy Leagues - Fanduel Lineup Picks (4/23)
Alfredo Simon SP / CIN ($4,900) - It’s fairly difficult to believe that the price for Simon over on FanDuel is still so low. The veteran right-hander has been simply brilliant in his three outings for the Reds this season. Yet to give up more than a single run in any of his starts, the Dominican native boasts a miniscule 0.86 ERA to go with a 0.81 WHIP and .173 opponent’s batting average across 21 innings to this point. Daily salary cap leagues certainly place an emphasis on strikeouts, which may be the one area of concern with Simon. He has managed just a 5.6 K/9, as the majority of his success so far in 2014 has come from inducing weak contact on a consistent basis and keeping the ball in the yard. Given the fact that Pittsburgh’s PNC Park is one of the top five pitcher-friendly environments in the entire league, Simon could be in for another solid effort on the mound Wednesday evening versus the Pirates.
Gerardo Parra OF / ARI ($2,500) - Ordinarily sitting at the top of the Diamondbacks lineup, Parra can often be a tough out, especially against right-handers, with enough speed to make things happen on the basepaths. The opposing hurler for the afternoon tilt at Wrigley Field is Cubs ace Jeff Samardzija. Parra owns a solid line in the previous matchups between the two, going 3-for-7 with a homer and two free passes. This could be quite a value for a player hitting a couple spots ahead of All Star slugger Paul Goldschmidt.
Jarrod Dyson OF / KC ($2,600) - For those that do not know, Dyson has all of the following; speed, speed and more speed. Yes, the reason to roster the 29-year-old outfielder is his 86 stolen bases in 242 big-league games since since 2010. Typically in a reserve role for the Royals, Dyson now has the starting gig in center field, at least until teammate Lorenzo Cain returns from the DL. Certainly a sneaky play Wednesday afternoon versus Indians, Dyson is a career 5-for-9 against Cleveland starter Justin Masterson while swiping three bags in the process.
Dexter Fowler OF / HOU ($2,900) - Fowler is the only member of the Astros’ roster that has any experience facing off with Seattle’s veteran righty Chris Young. In their previous battles, Houston’s switch-hitting center fielder has gone 3-for-7 with an RBI, two walks and five stolen bases. Granted, Fowler has had a fairly pedestrian first month of the season here in 2014, but strong on-base skills and a decent power/speed combination should get things turned around for him fairly soon-- now sounds good.
