Josh Reddick is an intriguing player from a fantasy perspective. When The Oakland Athletics brought in Reddick through a somewhat lopsided trade with the Boston Red Sox, Billy Beane and company were not too sure of what they had. After all, he had only played 143 games in three seasons with the Red Sox and was relatively unproven. But his first season with the Athletics in 2012 was a big one. Despite a .242 average, Reddick hit 32 home runs with 85 RBI and 85 runs scored. He even threw in 11 stolen bases.
The next two seasons appeared disappointing, but the underlying numbers showed development. He was more disciplined at the plate, with his K% dropping from 19.5% in 2013 to 15.9% in 2014. In 2015, his K% fell all the way to 11.2%. While the K% was dropping, the average was increasing: .226 in 2013, .264 in 2014, and .272 in 2015.
With these trends, Josh Reddick has shown that he is committed to getting better. This recent improvement points to even better offensive production for all categories in 2016.
