ANALYSIS: You might be a little late to the party, but New York Giants tight end Evan Engram has been by far the most impressive rookie tight end in 2017 after the quarter mark, catching 19 passes on 30 targets through four weeks for 200 yards (10.5 yards per catch) and one touchdown.
The 23-year-old has at least four catches in each game, and the really good news is that his targets continue to increase as the young season progresses. In comparison, Engram has as many targets as Patriots stud tight end Rob Gronkowski and six less than Eagles tight end Zach Ertz, who leads the position.
Engram had a season-high 11 targets in the Week 4 loss to Tampa Bay, and New York is likely to continue throwing more with their weak offensive line and running game stuck in the mud. Coming into the season, it was hard to see Engram seeing much work with such a crowded Giants receiving corps, but Eli Manning has really shown trust in the youngster, especially with Brandon Marshall disappointing.
