Should fantasy managers pick up Chicago White Sox pitcher Erick Fedde on the waiver wire? Joey Pollizze explains if Erick Fedde is worth a waiver wire add.

ANALYSIS: Chicago White Sox pitcher Erick Fedde signed a two-year, $15 million deal this offseason after spending the 2023 campaign in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO). Fedde was almost untouchable on the mound in that league last year and won the equivalent of the Cy Young Award with a 2.00 ERA and 209 strikeouts across 180 1/3 innings pitched.

That success has transferred over to the majors for Fedde, where he has shown a ton of potential for the White Sox rotation. The right-hander has a 3.46 ERA and 41 strikeouts in seven starts in 2024. More importantly, though, the 31-year-old has delivered a quality start in two of the past three outings. One of those games also saw the veteran give up just two earned runs with nine strikeouts across 8 1/3 strong innings against the Tampa Bay Rays.
It appears that Fedde's production will be very inconsistent throughout the season, which does slightly hurt his fantasy value. However, he is a pitcher who has some upside and can be started in the right matchup moving forward. With a start lined up against the Cleveland Guardians in Week 7, the White Sox pitcher is a solid add in 12-plus team leagues.
