BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues
ANALYSIS: Aybar’s value would be higher if he were batting at the top of the lineup instead of near the bottom. It would give him extra at bats and more opportunities to score runs behind a powerful offense. Mike Scioscia has decided on Kole Calhoun as the leadoff man because of his ability to get on base at a better rate than Aybar (career OBP .317). However, we all know that the ideal spot for Mike Trout is 3rd in the lineup, so I wouldn't be shocked to see Aybar inserted 1st or 2nd in order to move Trout to the 3-hole. Also, it's possible that being buried in a deep lineup may take the pressure off as Aybar has put up .318 avg/.418 OBP in spring. He's batting just 4-for-18, but he has 4 Runs and 2 RBI in 5 games. With fantasy owners looking for depth at the SS position, Aybar can optimistically provide around 20 SB, 50 RBI, and .280 average.
