ANALYSIS: This is a fantastic play for everyone out there. Do you like the current, Rockets-Gordon? Got you. Do you like the future, Contending-Team-Gordon? Gotcha too. Whether you are targeting Eric G for now, or for later, the vet should be good enough for your squad if you're doing it on some sort of deeper fantasy league.
Gordon has played all five games for Houston through Thursday, and he's averaging 26 MPG so far. He's been up and down, that's the truth and it cannot be sugarcoated, nor will I try to do so. Eric has been riding a freaking rollercoaster so far, with tallies ranging from 9 FP (the line was 2-4-2 shooting 16.7% with 2 TOs) to a season-high 34 FP (22-1-2-2-1 stuffed line with a tasty 63.6% shooting from the floor and no turnovers).
The thing lowering Gordon's upside right now is his usage shaky usage rate. He's had two games above 20%, two more below 15%, and one at 19%. When he's getting to the line he's hitting freebies with gusto, but he hasn't visited in two of the five games, and his FGA have fluctuated from 6 (twice) to a season-high of 14). Gordon will give you triples, scoring binges here and there, and not so much more. The move/hope/strategy here is to have him rostered before he gets moved to a better team with a nicer environment where he can really thrive.
