Welcome back, RotoBallers! We have an odd schedule of EPL games this weekend. With Southampton's inclusion in the FA Cup quarterfinals this weekend, their game against Tottenham in the league was postponed. That leaves us with just one EPL game Saturday, however, I will still be breaking down that game in full for you here. Keep reading this breakdown for my DFS soccer picks on RotoBaller and see how to have success on Saturday's slate.
The very large majority of my DFS content will be EPL or UCL-related, however, there is more soccer than just what is being played in England. EPL DFS Lineup Picks - Overview
Brighton vs Newcastle
This is going to be a mammoth relegation battle on Saturday. An outright winner can create an even larger gap between them and the relegation zone. Newcastle have been in horrid form with just 3/15 possible points in their last five games. Brighton (-160) - on the other hand - are coming off a 2-1 win over Southampton last weekend, but they have been pretty poor lately as well. Vegas has Brighton pretty heavily favored on the money line here considering they haven't been very good at home. Both teams are going to grind this game into the ground and try to eke out a result. The goal total over/under is 2.0.
FanDuel DFS Forwards / Midfielders
Newcastle has not played well defensively all season. They average 1.57 goals allowed per game on the road. Neal Maupay ($15) leads the slate in anytime goal odds at +120. He is the best goal scorer playing in this game, but he does only have seven goals this year. The good thing about Maupay is that his peripherals are good for a striker. He has not scored since 1/16, but should at least have a good floor in this game with peripherals. He has the most goal upside here, and he should not completely kill your lineup if does not score.
Leandro Trossard ($12) has been good for Brighton lately with 19.04 points per game over his last seven games including two goals. This is a good matchup for Brighton attackers - and with his recent form - he should be considered a top play on this slate. Pascal Gross ($10) is another great mid-tier play for Brighton. His goal upside is not as good as Maupay or Trossard, however, he has the safest floor among the three with his ability to create chances. He has upside into the 20s as well with his assist production.
Newcastle's attack is still a mess. They continue to be without their top three attackers, and that leaves their guys who are playing overpriced. The biggest reason to play a Newcastle attacker here is to have the ability to play a Brighton defender in a 4/1 stack. Just like their last game, Jonjo Shelvey ($8) and Joe Willock ($7) are the two cheap Newcastle attackers I would consider with their peripherals.
FanDuel DFS Defenders
Brighton force far more defensive action - especially clearances - than does Newcastle. That plays perfect into playing four Brighton attackers with a Newcastle defender.
Federico Fernandez ($9) leads the squad in clearances and gets the other defensive stats at a nice rate. He's dealing with a minor injury, but should he start, he will be a good play. Otherwise, Ciaran Clark ($8) is a solid play for $1 cheaper, and Paul Dummet ($5) can provide some deeper value if you're looking for that.
Newcastle hardly allow any defensive action to opposing teams, so I'm not really considering a Brighton defender here. However, they do have some appeal with a possible clean sheet at home especially with the lack of firepower from Newcastle's attack. Dan Burn ($6) makes the most sense from a dollar-for-dollar perspective.
