EPL DFS Lineup Picks - Overview
Southampton vs Manchester United
Manchester United (-100) look like they could be starting to right the ship now. They have three straight wins on the back of eight goals scored and only two against. This weekend, they get a hot Southampton team who sit in 5th place and who have not lost a league game since 9/20. This should be a pretty even and fun game to watch Sunday morning. The goal total over/under is a modest 2.5.
Chelsea vs Tottenham
The middle game on Sunday should be a firecracker. Chelsea (+105) sit in 3rd place right now having won six straight games in all competitions. They lead the league in goals scored this year and can move into 1st place with a win. To do that, they'll have to take down a Tottenham team who have won four straight league games. They're scoring goals at a high rate like Chelsea right now and are sitting in 1st place. The goal total over/under is 2.5.
Arsenal vs Wolverhampton
The late game on Sunday has Arsenal (+110) hosting Wolves. Arsenal have only one league win in their last five chances, and Wolves have not been playing all that well either. Both teams are struggling mightily to score, but they have been good defensively. If that trend continues, this could be a very low-scoring game. Vegas set the goal total over/under at only 2.0. This will not be a great spot to find much fantasy scoring either.
FanDuel DFS Forwards / Midfielders
It has taken FanDuel almost a full year, but they have finally priced Bruno Fernandes ($23) way up. I sound like a broken record, but he's been spectacular on the field and for DFS since joining United. This is not a great matchup, but he has proven to be matchup-proof. Fernandes has been one of the best midfielders in Europe over the last year or so. His price tag might be inhibiting for some, but if you can find comfortable value elsewhere, he's as viable as ever.
The game with the most ideal exposure is Tottenham @ Chelsea. These are two of the highest-scoring teams in the league with Chelsea scoring 2.4 goals per game and Tottenham scoring 2.3. Each of these teams give up a good amount of peripherals to opposing teams as well.
On the Tottenham side, Harry Kane ($22) and Son Heung-Min ($20) have both been awesome this year. Kane has 16 goals and assists, and Son has 11. They have an away matchup with Chelsea on Sunday. Chelsea has put more focus on playing strong defense this year than last year, and they made a massive upgrade at the goalkeeper position. Still, they are giving up more than one goal per game in the league. Kane (+125) and Son (+130) both have good anytime scoring odds. They are really the only Tottenham attackers producing this year, and they make good plays on this slate.
For Chelsea, a lot rides on which of their attackers start. Timo Werner ($22) should be in the lineup. He is the most likely goal scorer in this game at +105. Tottenham's defense has been strong this year too with nine goals allowed in nine games. In past seasons, they have struggled to keep opponents out of the net on the road. The one drawback of Werner on this slate is price. Including him in your lineup limits the amount of good secondary pieces you can get from this game.
A pairing of Tammy Abraham ($18) and Hakim Ziyech ($16) - who have both been producing this season when they start - is a more economical way to find exposure to this game. Mason Mount ($15) has been playing well lately in the league and in the Champions League. He's a strong option as well. N'golo Kante ($11) can provide some value on this slate. He should be busy trying to contain Tottenham's attackers on Sunday.
Joao Moutinho ($11) is the final attacker in my player pool on Sunday. He has been playing less over the last month or two, but he had a productive fantasy game last week against Southampton. This is likely going to be a low-scoring game, so relying on players who can collect peripherals like Moutinho is a smart strategy especially for this cheap.
FanDuel DFS Defenders
Serge Aurier ($12) for this price is too good. Aurier's floor is above his price point, and his ceiling is much higher with his attacking upside. Chelsea give up a lot of defensive action, which Aurier has done well collecting this season. He's just too good of a fantasy player to pass up on at this price. A second Tottenham defender to take a look at is Sergio Reguilon ($13). This game should be full of action, so getting some defenders from it is a good way to maximize your exposure.
Reece James ($11) is underpriced as well for many of the same reasons as Aurier. He comes with real attacking upside as a wingback for an attacking-heavy team. He also gets plenty of defensive stats to bolster his fantasy floor. Tottenham is a good matchup for him in regards to those peripherals as well. Thiago Silva ($13) is a good Chelsea defender to get too. He has been feasting off defensive stats recently, and he should continue to do so on Sunday.
Nelson Semedo ($10), Eric Dier ($10), and Davinson Sanchez ($7) are my go-to value defenders on Sunday.
FanDuel DFS Goalkeepers
Rui Patricio ($8) is underpriced here considering his matchup. He takes on an Arsenal team that has only scored one goal in their last five EPL games. They're struggling to create chances and are only averaging 1.0 goals per game in the league this season. Patricio and the Wolves defense have been solid too with four clean sheets in nine league games. They have also only conceded more than one goal in a game twice. With the way Arsenal have been playing with only one win in their last five league games, Patricio can pick up a clean sheet bonus here.
Alex McCarthy ($7) is cheap here too considering how Southampton have been in the league compared to his opponent, Manchester United, this year. It appears as though United are starting to turn things around lately though, so there is definite risk associated with this play. Regardless, his cheap price tag combined with a run of four straight 20+ point games could be useful on Sunday.
I think that both Eduoard Mendy ($11) and Hugo Lloris ($9) are both viable plays depending how on you approach that game with attackers. If you're banking on Chelsea playing well and winning this game at home, Mendy is a good play. However, if they think Tottenham can pull out the win, Lloris is a strong play. They should both make plenty of saves in this game giving them a 30+ point ceiling fi they keep a clean sheet.
