Welcome back to “The Kick-Off” and welcome to 2023! As the season dwindles down, many clubs will be focused on any trophies left at stake, Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup, etc and it will cause squad rotation and or rest. The Starting XI will remain fluid for those specific clubs, while others may try new formations as their league positions cement for next season.
The top favorite this midweek is Newcastle United -135 at Everton +390. I will guide you through this three-match slate starting at 2:45 P.M. EST.
If you have any questions on today's slate, bankroll management, GPP strategy, Cash game strategy, or anything else, don’t hesitate to email me at [email protected] or via Twitter @df_solutions or on “SLACK”.

The Kick-Off - EPL Matchweek 33
Goalies
Nick Pope - DK $5.4K || FD $13
Opponent - Everton
Without a doubt, Pope will be the highest-owned keeper on the small 3-game slate for the second slate of the midweek. In his last five fixtures in domestic play, he has 4 wins, 12 saves and 6 goals against – with the bulk of his goals against in the 3-0 loss to Aston Villa –. Everton is the worst club in Goals For Per 90 – 0.75 – and they are being outscored 4 to 6 in their last five home matches. This is one of the ‘locks’ of the slate.
Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): de Gea (DK $4.9K || FD $12), Neto (DK $4.4K || FD $10)
Forwards
Alexander Isak - DK $9.4K || FD $22
Opponent - Everton
No matter who starts for Newcastle up top, they will be expensive as the biggest favorite on the slate. However, the stars align for in-form Isak to make another start. The striker has recovered from an injury that kept him out for the majority of the season and he has taken off since returning. In his last five appearances in domestic play – 4 starts –, he has 4 goals, 12 shots, 3 created chances, 4 tackles, 1 interception and 2 clearances. Everton is the second-worst club in both Shots Against Per 90 – 15.43 – and Created Chances Against Per 90 – 11.81 –. This sets up Isak for a solid floor from shot volume alone with Newcastle expected to possess the ball for the majority of the match.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Rashford (DK $8.4K || FD $20), Walcott (DK $5.5K || FD $14)
Midfielders
Christian Eriksen - DK $6.7K || FD $15
Opponent - Tottenham
Manchester United and Tottenham are currently separated by 6 points in the league table with the Red Devils occupying the final spot for Champions League play next season, making this match extremely important for both clubs. Star midfielder Bruno Fernandes may be sitting out this match for United after taking a knock in the first half at the weekend and another match to be played this weekend. If he does sit out, Eriksen will be in charge of the majority of the set-pieces, giving him an immediate floor. Eriksen another player who has sat out quite a bit this season with an injury, has returned and in his last two appearances in domestic play – 1 start –, he has 5 shots, 3 created chances, 5 crosses, 2 corners, 1 tackle and 2 interceptions.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): McNeil (DK $8K || FD $14), Ward-Prowse (DK $7.7K || FD $19)
Defense
Kieran Trippier - DK $7.6K || FD $16
Opponent - Everton
The final ‘lock’ of the slate – Pope and Isak already mentioned –, is fullback Kieran Trippier of the Magpies. The fullback as mentioned time and time before is a critical piece to both sides of the ball for Newcastle and when players like Miggy Almiron or Allan Saint-Maximin do not start, Trippier becomes increasingly more important and that seems to be the case again. In Trippier’s last five fixtures in domestic play, he has 1 assist, 18 created chances, 45 crosses, 24 corners, 7 tackles, 4 interceptions and 15 clearances. Everton is the fifth-worst club in Crosses Against Per 90 – 20 – and as mentioned they give up plenty of created chances against. This is a perfect complementary piece to Alexander Isak – previously mentioned – on today’s slate.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Vina (DK $4.9K || FD $8), Walker-Peters (DK $4.2K || FD $9)
Corner Takers:
Everton: McNeil/Gray
Newcastle: Trippier
Southampton: Ward-Prowse
AFC Bournemouth: Christie
Tottenham: Perisic/Son
Manchester United: Fernandes/Eriksen/Shaw
