Welcome back to “The Kick-Off” and welcome to 2023! The Winter Transfer Window has come and gone and some clubs have made massive changes, while others are looking at the Summer to make moves. The Starting XI will be fluid for a few gameweeks as clubs get used to their new players and it is imperative that you watch closely for last-minute scratches prior to kick off
There is one large favorite and one smaller favorite heading into this gameweek, Arsenal -220 versus Brentford and Fulham -115 versus Nottingham Forest. I will guide you through this five-match slate starting at 10:00 A.M. EST.

The Kick-Off - EPL Matchweek 23
Goalies
Jose Sa- DK $4.9K || FD $11
Opponent - Southampton
Sa is coming off a monstrous win – 3-0 over Liverpool – with fantasy managers hoping he replicates that performance away to Southampton. The keeper has been streaky lately and so has the club. However, things may be taking a turn for the positive with the additions made during the Winter Transfer Window. The Saints have also made several additions, yet they refuse to play them. This continues to keep the hosts at the bottom of the league in Goals For Per 60 – third-worst with 0.80 goals – and Shots For Per 60 – seventh-worst with 11.3 shots –. Due to the lack of production, Sa will have a great chance at a clean sheet, however, his ceiling game will be limited.
Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Ramsdale (DK $5.8K || FD $13), Navas (DK $4K || FD $8)
Forwards
Harry Kane-DK $9.2K || FD $23
Opponent - Leicester City
With limited premium matchups on the slate, many will sway to the highest-priced striker, Harry Kane. Over his last five games in domestic play, he has 4 goals, 22 shots, 9 created chances, 4 crosses, 2 tackles and 4 clearances. Despite Kane playing away to King Power Stadium, Leicester is still the fifth-worst club in Goals Against Per 90 – 1.57 – and they are the seventh-worst at Shots Against Per 90 – 13.8 –. This should provide ample opportunities for Kane to score.
Aleksandar Mitrovic- DK $8K || FD $22
Opponent - Nottingham Forest
Mitrovic will be the highest-owned striker on the slate this weekend. The striker is not only playing in a favorable matchup, but he is also at home. Over his last five appearances in domestic play, he has 1 goal, 12 shots, 3 tackles and 5 clearances. Furthermore, Nottingham Forest is one of the worst clubs in the league regarding their defense. They are the sixth-worst in Shots Against Per 90 – 13.9 –, the fifth-worst in Created Chances Against Per 90 – 10.8 – and the second-worst in Goals Against Per 90 – 1.66 –. With keeper Dean Henderson out with injury, they did transfer in Keylor Navas from Paris Saint-German of Ligue One during the Winter Transfer Window. During his debut, he shut out Leeds United for a 1-0 win. With such a limited sample size though, it remains to be seen if he can continue that production long-term. No matter what, Mitrovic will at least have the opportunity to take a few shots during the match, providing a worthwhile floor.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Nketiah (DK $7.7K || FD $18), Adams (DK $5.9K || FD $14)
Midfielders
Andreas Pereira- DK $7.3K || FD $15
Opponent - Nottingham Forest
Keeping it in-house with what is expected to be another ‘chalky’ player, is Andreas Pereira of Fulham. The midfielder is a great set-piece taker in a favorable home match and his salary is more than manageable. Through his last five fixtures in domestic play, he has 1 assist, 5 shots, 7 created chances, 36 crosses, 18 corners and 1 clearance. Nottingham Forsests’ defense was aforementioned above. Furthermore, they are the second-worst club in Crosses Against Per 90 – 20.3 –. This spells well for Pereira and he could become one of the top-value plays of the slate.
James Ward-Prowse- DK $7.9K || FD $16
Opponent - Wolverhampton
After having a massive performance two weeks ago, Ward-Prowse disappointed last week away to Brentford. However, he has made it back into the article once more due to the lack of true set-piece takers on the slate. Over his last five matches in domestic play, he has 3 goals, 9 shots, 11 created chances, 36 crosses, 18 corners, 7 tackles, 4 interceptions and 6 clearances. He is the heartbeat of the Saints and he will be a focal point against a stingy Wolves’ defense this weekend. Despite Wolverhampton being in the middle of the pack in Goals Against Per 90 and Shots Against Per 90, they are the sixth-worst club in Crosses Against Per 90 – 19.9.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Maddison (DK $8.6K || FD $18), Perisic (DK $5.7K || FD $10)
Defense
James Bree- DK $5.1K || FD $11
Opponent - Wolverhampton
Bree is the most viable defender on the slate, albeit a very small sample size. The fullback in his one match with the Saints posted 3 created chances, 4 crosses, 2 tackles and 2 interceptions. If we do date it back to his time with Luton Town, in five appearances prior to his transfer, he had 2 assists, 2 shots, 8 created chances, 25 crosses, 6 corners, 4 tackles, 5 interceptions and 13 clearances. His one match in the Premier League seems to be in line with his production in the Championship. With Wolverhampton conceding a fair amount of crosses per game, Bree’s expectations are clear.
Nelson Semedo- DK $3.4K || FD $9
Opponent - Southampton
Due to the lack of consistent producers, we will take our chances with a Semedo ‘punt’. The fullback has done very little offensively for Wolverhampton this season, providing 1 shot, 1 created chance, 4 crosses, 12 tackles, 6 interceptions and 20 clearances in his last five matches in domestic play. With Wolverhampton playing away to Southampton, Semedo should see plenty of opportunities to produce defensive peripherals.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Royal (DK $5.2K || FD $12), Robinson (DK $4.5K || FD $10)
Corner Takers:
Arsenal: Martinelli/Odegaard
Brentford: Jensen
Crystal Palace: Olise/Eze
Brighton & Hove Albion: Gross/March
Fulham: Pereira
Nottingham Forest: Gibbs-White
Leicester City: Maddison/Barnes
Tottenham: Perisic/Son
Southampton: Ward-Prowse
Wolverhampton: Sarabia/Nunes
