ANALYSIS: It was kind of surprising to look at the stat sheet and see Eddie Royal leading the Chicago Bears in receiving on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. With Alshon Jeffery clearly nursing his lower body injuries, it wasn't really expected that the journey-man wide receiver would take the reigns. Royal totaled seven catches on seven targets for 111 yards and a touchdown. Substitute quarterback Brian Hoyer developed a nice rapport with him immediately in the game and could continue if first-string starting quarterback Jay Cutler remains on the side-line with a thumb injury.
If you look at Royal's first four games of the season he broke 50 yards in three of them and has scored three total touchdowns if you include punt returns. If Alshon continues to be banged up, Royal could continue to step in and fill the void for the Bears. With extra incentive for special teams scores as well, pick up Royal and plop him into your flex.
