Drew Stubbs (OF, COL) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues

ANALYSIS: Both Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer pulled their usual shenanigans of hitting the disabled list for an extended amount of time. Enter Corey Dickerson and Drew Stubbs. You have already  heard enough about the superstar that Dickerson is becoming. However, based on an ownership tag of 9% in Yahoo Leagues, I don't think enough of you have considered Stubbs.  This year Drew Stubbs is killing the ball off left handed pitching to the tune of a .366 AVG. Unfortunately, against right handed pitching which he faces more he only has a .259 AVG. This all translates to a very serviceable .301 AVG on the year, with 6 HRs, 9 SBs,  and 32 Runs. The average can be expected to dip because his BABIP is about .70 points higher than his career norms, although some of the increase may be explained by the Coors Field effect. The power and the speed on the other hand should definitely stick. Mr. Stubbs had 3 seasons in a row from 2010-2012 over 10 HRs and over 30 SBs. A player who contributes in both the home run categories as well as steals is very rare, hence why many 20-20 guys tend to go in the upper rounds of the draft. Stubbs probably won't get enough playing time to reach 20-20 when both Gonzalez and Cuddyer come back, but you could do much worse than a guy who can reach double digits in both home runs and steals for your 4th outfielder.
