BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team PPR Leagues
ROSTERED: 1% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: This is the ultimate flier of waiver wire pickups. I wouldn't blame you if you hadn't heard Drew Sample's name prior to this week, but here we are. C.J. Uzomah's, the Bengals TE1, fell down to an Achilles injury in the fourth quarter of the Week 2 Cincinnati's game against Cleveland. Enter Drew Sample (who caught 1-of-1 targets for seven yards in Week 1) and drool at the potential.
Sample finished Thursday's game second only to A.J. Green in targets, trailing him 9 to 13. Sample, though, led the Bengals with 7 receptions tied with Tyler Boyd on that department and racked up 45 yards while at it. Burrow seems to love his tight ends, as he already targeted Uzomah five times in Week 1, did so six times on Thursday, and also threw the ball nine times to Sample over the whole game against the Browns.
That volume can't get much higher, but Uzomah won't be around eating from Sample's opportunities any time soon. Cleveland has been rather awful against TEs this past two weeks, sure, but Philly comes next and they rank in the bottom third of the league ranks on points allowed to the position. I wouldn't dream of getting a league winner on Sample, but odds are he keeps getting points if only because of the volume and his high catching rates (5-of-6 last season, 8-10 in 2020 so far; prioritize him in PPR leagues).
