Drew Lock (QB, DEN) - Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

Broncos quarterback (QB) Drew Lock is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 9 of the 2020 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: Talk about a comeback. Uh, oh, Drew, Lock! Lock rallied the Denver Broncos from a putrid 24-3 second-half deficit to a resounding 31-30 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers, a team that definitely doesn't know how to catch a break. Lock was forced to miss two games due to injury and missed three weeks overall (Denver didn't play in Week 5), but since coming back and after getting into rhythm he's been an excellent quarterback play.

That game against New England in Week 6 was horrific, sure. It was Lock's first game back from the injury he suffered 13 snaps into the W2 game against Pittsburgh, and the pats ate him alive allowing him to score a measly 4.5 FP. In his last two games, though, Lock has hit his stride and he has become a must-add-and-play quarterback in 2QB formats and leagues.

Lock put up 15 FP against a great defense in Week 7 (KC) even while throwing two picks and no touchdowns (he scored one rushing, though). He improved on that game with a season-best 20.8 FP performance facing the Chargers and helping erase a 21-point deficit in just two quarters to carry Denver to the W. Lock completed 26 of 41 passes (63.4%) for 248 yards, tossed three TDs, and was picked once. It's been back-to-back games with similar outcomes for the QB: the lines read 24-of-40/254/0/2 (and a rushing score) and 26-of-41/248/3/1.

The Broncos have lost stud-WR Courtland Sutton for the season, but the combination of (mostly) Jerry Jeudy, Noah Fant, Tim Patrick, and more recently Albert Okwuegbunam and DaeSean Hamilton have helped keep the team at a reasonable level of play.  This past Sunday four Broncos' pass-catchers got 3+ targets and scored 10+ PPR points each.

Lock should keep improving or at least maintain his current level of play, which means he should play to near-QB2 fantasy points weekly and be startable in 2QB leagues.
