Both Drew Brees and Derek Carr come into Week 7 with extra rest, and both look poised to do well against their respective opponents.
After a shoulder injury slowed him down early in the season, Brees has come back strong with three-straight 300-yard games. He's not lighting up the scoreboard like we're accustomed to seeing, but Brees is averaging 18 fantasy points per game during that three-game span. Now, he'll take on an Indianapolis defense that allows an average of 289 yards per game through the air which ranks 28th in the NFL.
The Saints are coming off a huge prime time upset against the rival Falcons and have momentum on their side. With Brees finally looking like his old self again, a favorable matchup against a poor secondary means the Saints offense is in for a big game.
Another benefit of having Brees on your team is that the Saints' defense is so terrible, the offense is almost always forced to throw the ball in order to crawl out of early deficits. The Colts, when healthy, have one of the best offenses in the league, and this game has the potential to be a shootout.
Derek Carr, on the other hand, had an extra week to prepare for the San Diego Chargers as the Raiders enter this one off their bye week. Carr's fantasy production has dipped over the last two weeks, but when Carr was in this same spot last year, he tore the Chargers apart.
The Raiders faced the Chargers after their bye week in 2014, and Carr torched them for 282 yards and a career-high four touchdowns. I like Carr in this spot for another reason: the situation. The Chargers, despite a 500-yard performance from Philip Rivers, suffered a heart-breaking loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 6. They're are also dealing with several injuries on both sides of the ball, while Oakland had an extra week to prepare.
Carr probably won't throw for 300 yards, but the Chargers will be without safety Eric Weddle, and the Raiders have a talented receiving duo of Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. If you own Brees or Carr in your league, you will not be let down on Sunday.
