There is only one bowl game today because the NFL takes over the night slot for Monday Night Football. I still say that the college game is more entertaining, but it might not be a better game. Or will it? Underestimate UConn as Fresno did in September and you might get a rude awakening.
We head to Conway, South Carolina, and the teal field of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers for this matchup between UConn and Marshall. UConn is still an independent since the Big East disbanded, so they played an interesting schedule, going 6-6 on the season. They had wins over Fresno, Boston College, and Liberty that propelled them into a bowl. Marshall finished 5-3 in the Fun Belt and 8-4 overall with big wins over Notre Dame, James Madison, and Appalachian State.
I will be providing you with daily college fantasy football picks DraftKings for the Myrtle Beach Bowl game starting at 2:30 pm Eastern. We will take a look at the best captain plays and the utility plays to go with them.

DFS Captain Plays
Khalan Laborn, RB, Marshall ($18,000)
Laborn, the former four-star recruit out of high school landed at Marshall this year and racked up 1,423 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns. Laborn opened the season with seven consecutive 100-yard rushing games and was used sparingly down the stretch due to the return of Rasheen Ali, but there should be plenty to go around on the ground in this one. UConn allowed 23 rushing touchdowns on the season and gave up 587 rushing yards over the last two games alone! Only four of their 12 opponents failed to hit 150 rushing yards in a game this year. The Marshall ground game should rack up the points in this one.
Victor Rosa, RB, Connecticut ($7,800)
I have no clue why Rosa is this cheap. He ran for 261 yards and five touchdowns over the last three games for UConn this year. Devontae Houston is more explosive, but Rosa has out-carried him in each of the last four games and the numbers haven't been all that close. Rosa is a great way to get every piece you want in this game, and with Ali back for Marshall, he steals some of Laborn's thunder anyway.
Other Captains: Cam Fancher, Marshall ($13,200)
DFS Flex Plays
Zion Turner, QB, Connecticut ($10,400)
The youngster certainly had his ups and downs this year, but Jim Mora Jr. has stuck with him all season. Turner doesn't have a lot of upside, so he's nowhere near a captain play for me, but he does get a decent number of carries per game for some extra points. He had a dreadful game through the air against Army in the finale, but I consider that more of an exception. Turner had double-digit DraftKings points in six of the last seven games.
Cam Fancher, QB, Marshall ($8,800)
The freshman closed the season with three straight games over 200 passing yards and had two passing touchdowns in each. On top of that, Fancher ran for 305 yards and a touchdown over the last three games as well. I have kept my ear to the ground since Texas Tech transfer (and starter to open the season) Henry Columbi is available, but I have a hard time believing that Marshall will push Fancher to the bench after his performance down the stretch.
Aaron Turner, WR, Connecticut ($6,600)
Turner hauled in 15 passes in the last two games of the season, but still only had 108 yards. He gets a nice volume of short receptions to rack up the yards, but there's not much explosiveness here. Part of it is having a young quarterback. Part of it is having a patchwork offensive line. Aside from Rosa, Turner is the only other piece of the UConn offense that doesn't pose much of a risk. Also like Rosa, he has volume, but not much for upside.
Other Flex Options: Corey Gammage, Marshall ($10,600); Devontae Houston, Connecticut ($9,600)
DFS Value Plays
Rasheen Ali, RB, Marshall ($2,800)
This is where DK screwed up on this one. Ali didn't play until Week 12 this year because of an injury, but he picked up where he left off during a breakout 2021 season. Ali ran for 181 yards and a touchdown and also scored on a reception out of the backfield. He and Laborn are both going to get a lot of carries in this one – think at least 15 each – and only one of them is priced for that kind of volume. Ali is going to be 100% owned, but get different elsewhere. This is our free space.
Charles Montgomery, WR, Marshall ($2,000)
The freshman caught his only touchdown of the season in the finale against Georgia State, but he has been earning the trust of fellow freshman Cam Fancher for a while now. Montgomery has 14 receptions over the last three games for 194 yards and that touchdown. Gammage still is the focal point of the passing game, but Montgomery is getting us five free points at a very low price.
Other Value Plays: Noe Ruelas, Connecticut ($4,200); Robert Burns, Connecticut ($1,000)
