Once again I find myself filling in for a fellow RotoBaller writer on the weekend! Yes, the contests stink but there's still to be won, right?
Today I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the 12-game DraftKings main slate on 9/19/21. Be sure to also check out all the MLB player news, including late scratches, and the projected and confirmed daily MLB lineups for each DFS slate.

DraftKings DFS Pitchers
Cash Game/GPP Anchor Play:
Sandy Alcantara - MIA vs. PIT ($10,200)
Sandy over Cole as the top cash arm? Really? Yeah, I think so, but I wouldn't fault anyone for rolling Cole against a struggling Indians offense. Personally, I will be using the red-hot Alcantara in a smash spot against a light-hitting Pirates team at home. Sandy has gone over 30 DK points in three of his last four and 25+ in seven of his last nine. Pittsburgh isn't a high-strikeout team, but Sandy has been slinging it so well I am not sure it matters at this point.
Alternate Play(s)
Jose Berrios - TOR vs. MIN ($9,300)
It's a tough call here between Berrios and Eovaldi - and I love them both. But I think Berrios could be the lower-owned of the two and I think we have to factor in the revenge here right? JUST KIDDING! I don't play narratives! But I do like how well Berrios is pitching of late and I think it's a really good matchup for him at home against a Minnesota lineup that worries me less against righties than lefties.
Other pitching options: Nathan Eovaldi ($9,200) vs. BAL
DraftKings DFS Infielders
Tommy Edman - 2B, STL vs. SDP ($4,900)
This is another juicy spot for the Cardinals as the Padres are rolling out washed-up righty Jake Arrieta. St. Louis has taken both games in this series so far and is starting to put some separation between themselves and the Padres in the Wild Card race in the process.
Edman has an 8-game hitting streak and is a great contact-hitting leadoff man who should find his way on base today and score some runs. He's swiped 25 bags this season, too, and I like the Cards to keep it rolling today and beat up on Arrieta, who has been bad anywhere he's pitched the last few seasons.
Frank Schwindel - 1B, CHC @ MIL ($3,600)
Schwindel is now hitting .339 on the year and has been one of the bright spots for the rebuilding Cubs in the second half as he's also jacked 14 homers. It's a small sample size, but in 60 AB this year Schwindel has a .508 wOBA and .442 ISO against LHP. Eric Lauer has had a decent year for the Brewers, but he's definitely still a guy I considerable a hittable pitcher and I wouldn't sleep on this Cubs offense down the stretch as they've done some damage at the plate even if they are striking out a lot.
Jose Iglesias - SS, BOS vs. BAL ($3,400)
Boston is a team we simply have to have exposure to today in all formats as they have a slate-high 6.6 implied run total and are facing a really bad LHP in Wells and an atrocious Baltimore bullpen. I love some of the cheaper Boston righty bats today like Bobby Dalbec and their #9 hitter, Iglesias. Consider that Jose was at one time hitting cleanup for the Angels against LHP earlier this year and is sporting a solid .335 wOBA to lefties this season. He's a great piece of a wraparound Boston stack or just a solid cash play at a position where it makes sense to pay down.
DraftKings DFS Outfielders
Wil Myers - OF, SDP @ STL ($3,800)
I really like the offenses on both sides in this game as San Diego will face another pitcher who appears to be well past his best days on the bump in lefty J.A. Happ. Happ is a homerun-prone pitcher who's allowed a .254 ISO to righties this season and I'm always interested in attacking him. Myers hasn't had the same type of production this year that we had come to expect of him, but he's still a guy who has solid platoon splits over his career against lefties and is a relatively cheap cleanup hitter to slot into your lineups today.
Yordan Alvarez - OF, HOU vs. ARI ($4,900)
Alvarez went deep again last night, giving him 31 on the season and he seems way too cheap here for a power hitter of his caliber. Perhaps the salary setters are giving Zac Gallen too much respect? I'm going to roll with Alvarez and his .265 ISO to RHP here and I don't think Gallen is a pitcher we should fear at all based on what he's done in Arizona this season.
Jarred Kelenic – OF, SEA @ KCR ($3,500)
Don't look now but the Seattle rookie now has 12 homers and had a double-dong day at the plate in this series on Friday night. He looks so much better at the plate since being called back up from the minors last month and I want some exposure to this Seattle team as they are facing rookie Jackson Kowar and his 11.50 ERA!
That does it for me folks, I wish you the best of luck in your MLB DFS contests and NFL DFS contests, too! Enjoy your Sunday and thanks for making RotoBaller your choice for fantasy sports content!
