DFS Lineup Stacks to Target on DraftKings
Chicago White Sox vs. Jered Weaver (RHP)
It feels weird to intentionally put as many White Sox hitters as you can into a lineup, but against Padres starter Jered Weaver, it's actually a great idea. Weaver is quite possibly the worst starting pitcher in baseball, with a 6.81 ERA and a 3.53 HR/9, so he's going to serve up lots of home runs at Guaranteed Rate Field, a bandbox of a park. Weaver has a 12.7% K%, so he hardly strikes anybody, meaning White Sox hitters will have lots of opportunities to get the ball in play. Todd Frazier and Jose Abreu are elite plays at a mid-tier price, while Melky Cabrera and Avisail Garcia are even cheaper bats that should out-produce their price level. Leury Garcia has led off for the White Sox in their last two games, and will be in a fantastic spot to produce if he gets the spot again. It's hard to go wrong with any White Sox bat on Sunday.
Cleveland Indians vs. Hector Santiago (LHP)
Hector Santiago has seen good results this year, so hopefully his 2.76 ERA steers other fantasy players away from Indians bats, making them an effective contrarian play. Santiago has gotten super lucky through his first seven starts, skating by on a .248 BABIP, 81.8% LOB%, and a 5.2% HR/FB%, a trifecta of regression waiting to happen. Santiago's 17.8% K% and 9.2% BB% tell the real story, and he's got a 5.16 FIP as a result. Get in on Francisco Lindor and Edwin Encarnacion as top-tier hitters, as well as Michael Brantley and Jose Ramirez. And at just $3,200, lefty-killer Brandon Guyer makes for an excellent play.
DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on DraftKings
Drew Pomeranz, BOS vs TB - $8,200
Drew Pomeranz has massive upside against the Rays on Sunday, making him a top starting pitcher to consider. Pomeranz racks up lots of strikeouts with his 26.7% K%, and the Rays strike out more than any team versus lefties at 27.0%. That's a recipe for tons of fantasy points, and since the Rays are a below average lineup with their .305 wOBA against lefites, they shouldn't do much damage to Pomeranz, even in Fenway Park. Pomeranz has been prone to blowups throughout his time in Boston, so he's not the safest play, but he could pay off big time on Sunday.
Robbie Ray, ARI vs. PIT - $8,800
Robbie Ray is another huge upside guy for Sunday as he takes on the Pirates. Ray is rocking an insane 32.4% K% and has been better than his ERA suggests, as his 3.48 FIP and 3.20 xFIP are much lower than his 4.14 ERA. The Pirates have a measly .298 wOBA versus lefties in 2017, 22nd in the league, so Ray will have no trouble with them. It's surprising that Ray isn't more expensive, so grab him for your pitching staff.
DFS Infielders to Consider on DraftKings
Catcher (C)
J.T. Realmuto, MIA vs. ATL - $3,400
J.T. Realmuto is as steady as they come out of the catcher position, batting .305 with a 106 wRC+. He should have a nice day against the washed-up R.A. Dickey, in a battle of the initialed first-names. R.A. has a 4.29 ERA in his six starts, so J.T. should be excited to face him. Realmuto comes at a very low price and has a higher floor than almost anybody else at the position, making him a safe lineup filler to bank some points and spend big elsewhere.
First Base (1B)
Lucas Duda, NYM @ MIL - $4,000
In just his third game back off the disabled list, Lucas Duda will likely be overlooked by many fantasy players, so if you're looking for a first base option on the cheaper end, he's your guy on Sunday. Even with his .239 average, Duda has crushed the ball in his small sample size this year, with a .917 OPS and a 135 wRC+. He looks to feast on Brewers starter Wily Peralta, who has a 5.30 ERA in seven starts, and Miller Park is one of the best power parks in the entire league. Watch out for lots of dongers and extra-base hits in his matchup on Sunday, as Duda will be right in the middle of the action.
Second Base (2B)
Rougned Odor, OAK @ TEX - $4,200
Rougned Odor has gotten off to a poor start this year, batting just .207, but he has a shot to tee off on A's starter Kendall Graveman at home on Sunday. Globe Life Park is an easy stadium to elevate the ball in, and batting fifth in the Rangers order, Odor will be in a position for lots of RBIs. The 23-year-old has six homers on the year, and doesn't have to worry much about striking out against Graveman, who has only a 17.9% K% this year. Odor is one of the top second baseman on Sunday without even considering his price, so the $4,200 price tag makes him an easy buy.
Shortstop (SS)
Eduardo Nunez, SF vs. CIN - $3,400
Eduardo Nunez's price has absolutely tanked on DraftKings recently, falling all the way to $3,400. It makes sense considering the deep slump he's been mired in, but don't forget the Nunez batted .288 last year. He's striking out only half as much as he was last year, cutting his K% all the way down to 7.7%, and he's been hit with some bad BABIP luck with a .264 mark. Nunez faces Tim Adleman, a 29-year-old career minor leaguer who has a 4.44 ERA in his 26 1/3 innings this year. This is a great opportunity to buy low on Nunez while you can.
Third Base (3B)
Mike Moustakas, KC vs. BAL - $3,400
Another slumping player, Mike Moustakas, is a valuable play on Sunday as he faces Kevin Gausman. Gausman is getting blown to bits this year, posting a 6.63 ERA, so Moustakas will look to add to his eight home runs against him. Moose is still batting second in the Royals order, a spot where he can get plenty of runs and RBIs. Moustakas is a big power hitter who can really put up some points when he's on, and with this matchup he should be locked in to your lineups.
DFS Outfielders to Consider on DraftKings
Jose Bautista, TOR vs. SEA - $4,000
Jose Bautista has caught fire, hitting three home runs in his last four games, and Sunday is a great day to hop on his hype train. Bautista murders lefties, and will be facing Ariel Miranda, who doesn't stand a chance with his 5.20 ERA. Joey Bats is at home in Toronto, where hitters thrive, so it doesn't look like this hot streak is coming to an end just yet.
Adam Jones, BAL @ KC - $3,800
If you don't have any Orioles in your lineups on Sunday, you're probably doing something wrong, so who better to take than Adam Jones? Jones, the Orioles two-hitter, has been nothing special this season, but a solid hitter in the two-hole is never a bad idea, especially facing Royals starter Chris Young. Young has gotten blasted this season, with a 5.93 ERA, which is somehow actually an improvement over his 2016 ERA of 6.19. He's just an awful pitcher, whose walked nearly as many as he's struck out, so the Orioles are going to have a big day on him. Adam Jones is coming in at a great price, making him a worthwhile play.
Josh Reddick, HOU @ NYY- $3,900
Batting second in the high-powered Houston lineup, Josh Reddick is a great play on Sunday. He's much more attractive in the second game of the doubleheader against Masahiro Tanaka, who has a 4.36 ERA. Reddick has a 121 wRC+ this year and will have a wonderful time at Yankee Stadium, a great park for hitting. With this in mind, getting Reddick into your lineups at this low of a price is a great strategy.
