Hey! You can't fall asleep yet! There's still college football going on and still money to be won in DFS. It's not over until WE say it is! Are you with me? Let's finish this real opening night of the last great college football season the right way!
Arizona is slumming with Northern Arizona and San Diego State is hosting Idaho State. The other two games aren't a waste though. Sam Houston makes their FBS debut in Provo and 2020 darlings Coastal Carolina are heading to Tinseltown and might pack more fans into the Rose Bowl than UCLA does. This is going to be a great way to finish the night off!
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/2/23, locking at 10 PM Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions for players at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks
Jalen Mayden, San Diego State ($6,900)
The converted safety is an absolute joy to watch. I like the way he plays and he is a leader. Mayden had a solid opener against Ohio and should have a much easier time against the Bengals. There's no reason to pay up for either UCLA quarterback (they'll play at least two) and we all know who Kedon Slovis is by now. I'll spend my money on Mayden.
Grayson McCall, Coastal Carolina ($6,600)
Conway was crushed when McCall entered the portal after the bowl loss to East Carolina, but he ultimately decided that the Surf Turf was where he was destined to be. McCall threw just two interceptions in 297 pass attempts last season, so he's not going to hurt us. UCLA will be a test for McCall, but he can handle it.
Also consider: Keegan Shoemaker, Sam Houston ($5,700)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs
T.J. Harden, UCLA ($7,300)
The Bruins are allegedly going to use Harden and Ball State transfer Carson Steele. I'll believe it when I see it. Harden played very well as a freshman behind Zach Charbonnet last season. Coastal had some problems with good running teams last year (Army, Old Dominion, James Madison) and could have some issues trying to stop the Bruins. At any rate, Harden has a high ceiling in this game.
Michael Wiley, Arizona ($6,300)
When we last saw Wiley, he was carving up arch-rival Arizona State in the Territory Cup. Wiley ran for 214 yards on just 12 carries, scoring three touchdowns. Wiley's elite speed is going to play well against the Lumberjacks here. One of two long runs, and he'll pay this off even if he only plays half the game.
Also consider: Aidan Robbins, BYU ($7,000); Reese White, Coastal Carolina ($4,900)
DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers
J. Michael Sturdivant, UCLA ($6,300)
The Cal transfer had to deal with inconsistent quarterback play, so he should feel right at home early in the season. One of these UCLA quarterbacks should win the job at some point, but here Sturvidant will be the only constant in this offense if the depth chart is to be believed. UCLA is going to have to pull off some big plays in the passing game to win this. I expect Sturdivant to be heavily involved.
Sam Pinckney, Coastal Carolina ($5,300)
It took Pinckney a while to get going after his transfer from Georgia State last year, but he was McCall's safety valve at the end of last season. Pinckney hauled in 15 passes in the last two games alone. He's not really the deep threat on this team, but I don't expect CCU to get deep on UCLA anyway. The possession receiver (Pinckney) is the one I want.
Keegan Jones, UCLA ($4,000)
Jones was a running back last year, but after catching 21 passes out of the backfield, the Bruins converted him to receiver. Jones is a bit of a wild card here. I still think we might see some of him out of the backfield and the slot. I will take a shot at him in one large-field GPP.
Also consider: Jacob Cowing, Arizona ($7,400); Kody Epps, BYU ($6,100); Qua'Vez Humphreys, Sam Houston ($5,200); Hendrix Johnson, Northern Arizona ($4,700)
DraftKings CFB Stacks:
Arizona
The Arizona defense might just be bad enough to let this stay close. Jayden de Laura is pricy, so I likely won't go there. The big-play ability of Wiley and Cowing are enticing though. We might see enough of Jonah Coleman in this game for him to be worthwhile as well.
Also consider: BYU, San Diego State
