NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 5/14/24
The race for Lord Stanley continues! Will the nightmare bear strike once again or will Boston win a do-or-die Game 5 in Florida? Tonight we have a two-game slate and no teams playing on a back-to-back. The currently live top-two highest implied team totals are Edmonton with 4 and Florida with 3.3. I will do my best to guide you through this two-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
DISCLOSURE: Make sure to monitor the NHL news feeds for the latest player status and injury news.
Playoff Series To-Date
Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers: Florida is leading 3-1
Vancouver Canucks at Edmonton Oilers: Vancouver is leading 2-1
DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks
Arturs Silovs - DK $7.6K || FD $7.7K
Opponent - Edmonton Oilers
Silovs is a man on fire. The netminder who many refer to as a third-string goalie due to his spot on the roster, is proving once again that he is much more than that with four wins in six playoff appearances. In that time frame, he has a 4-2 record with a 2.65 Goals Against Average and a 0.908 Save Percentage. Furthermore, out of 17 goalies who have played 120 minutes or more in the playoffs, Silovs is the fourth-best in Goals Saves Above Expected Per 60 with a 0.97. Edmonton will need to win Game 4 after dropping Game 3. An uptick in shots is expected and Silovs is expected to see a much safer floor thanks to it. If he can dial in early, he will be hard to break.
Others To Consider (Cash/GPP):
- Skinner (DK $7.8K || FD $8.1K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks
Sam Bennett - DK $4.5K || FD $6K
Opponent - Boston Bruins
In what has been a back-and-forth series, Sam Bennett has been a welcomed face back into the lineup. Bennett brings a physical game, something that teammate Anton Lundell does not possess. In Bennett's last five games – including four playoff appearances – he has three goals, three assists, 12 shots, and one blocked shot. Unfortunately, with wingers Carter Verhaeghe and Matthew Tkachuk on his line, Bennett will not produce high amounts of shots. However, his point production will make up for it. In Game 5 at home with a series-clinching scenario, expect the center to produce three shots and one point.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):
- Coyle (DK $4.4K || FD $5.6K)
DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks
Leon Draisaitl - DK $8K || FD $9.6K
Opponent - Edmonton Oilers
It is the Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid show. Teammates Draisaitl and McDavid are the only two players keeping this series remotely close. At the end of Game 2, bench boss Kris Knoblauch reverted to stacking his top line, reuniting his three best offensive players. Draisaitl benefits greatly from this and it has shown. In his two games back on a line with McDavid, Draisaitl has two goals, four assists, and nine shots. In his five games prior, he has four goals, six assists, 23 shots, and seven blocked shots. In a must-win game, expect the winger to produce five shots and two points.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):
- Heinen (DK $3.1K || FD $4K)
DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks
Mason Lohrei - DK $3.2K || FD $4K
Opponent - Florida Panthers
Mason Lohrei has officially taken over in Boston. The young blueliner is quarterbacking the second power-play unit and in his most recent five playoff appearances, he has one goal, two assists, six shots, and 11 blocked shots. His point production has not caught up to his role yet, but he continues to produce peripherals. In a crucial do-or-die Game 5 in Florida, he will need to elevate his game tenfold. Expect the defenseman to produce two shots and four blocked shots.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):
- Myers (DK $3.2K || FD $3.9K)
