Hey, Rotoballers! I want to introduce myself formally, my name is Jon Irvin. Some of you may know me from the Discord channels and know I love breaking down dfs slates especially in MLB and NHL. I enjoy the deep dumpster diving so to speak, and look forward to helping find the low owned overlooked, and unwanted plays. I predominantly play on DraftKings so some of my picks are more tailored to their point/price system but a good spot is a good spot regardless of platform. By now we're a few weeks into the season and most teams have played at least ten games which begins to strengthen positive and negative trends. I have started to implement my trend chart where I look at both L25 as well as L10 to help see which teams are trending in which direction.
Today's DFS content will be for the main slate for both DraftKings and FanDuel for Monday, November 20th, 2023. Tonight we're faced with a surprising seven-game slate, which is fairly large for a Monday, filled with the likes of Florida, Boston, Edmonton, Tampa Bay, Colorado, and our favorite punching bag San Jose. Looking at my chart though, the numbers tell a story of what could be a tight lower-scoring night.
After reading this, jump into the RotoBaller Discord NHL channel and chat it up with all the other great minds about today's slate. Don’t forget to also check out our valuable NHL tools including the new NHL DFS Heat Map.

NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 11/20/23
Good morning on this Thanksgiving week Monday! We have a slate full of great value to be thankful for as well as the initial trend chart. I'm going to assume all friends and family are heading to Vancouver to stack the Canucks, last time out versus the Sharks they put up a ten-spot, so let's try to find some lower-owned pieces to either pair with or pivot off of.
DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks
With a lot of high-priced studs, the goalie is going to be the main point of saving a few dimes. A good place to start looking is finding teams that allow a decent shot volume yet limit scoring and high-danger chances. Referencing the chart, I think we can look at teams like Boston, Nashville, and Dallas as possible landing spots.
Linus Ullmark DK $7.6K || FD $8.8K
Opponent - Tampa Bay Lightning
Both netminders in Beantown have been carrying this Bruins squad, tonight Ullmark looks to get the starting gig. On the year, Linus has only given up more than two goals twice all year and averages nearly 30 saves a game. Tampa is coming in hot and should give Ullmark the shot volume needed to make another 30 saves and hopefully allow another two goals or less.
Others to consider: Juuse Saros ( DK $7.1K || FD $7.5K)
DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks
Anton Lundell DK $3.1K || FD $3.9K
Top-line center Aleksander Barkov is out tonight for the Panthers allowing discount Lundell to lead a new-look FLA1 with wingers Carter Verhaeghe and Sam Reinhart. Now the three have very little TOI together as a unit but Lundell paired with either winger has shown promise 5v5. With a more prominent role tonight, Anton should easily surpass value at only 3.1 on DK.
Opponent - Edmonton Oilers
Others to consider: Phillip Danault ( DK $4.2K || FD $5.3K )
DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks
Quinton Byfield - DK $4.0K || FD $5.5K
Quinton has found himself not only in a nice spot up on the top line with the Kings duo of Kopitar and Kempe, he also gets to face a somewhat struggling Coyotes squad tonight. Los Angeles sits in the top five of 5v4 PP TOI, which should allow even more ice time for the value winger. Checking out away splits only strengthens the case for Byfield as his xGF is sitting above 4.
Opponent -Arizona Coyotes
Others to consider: Blake Coleman ( DK $3.9K || FD $4.8K)
DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks
Jordan Spence - DK $2.7K || FD $3.8K
We're not going to have to look far for our initial value defenseman, let's stick with LAK and Byfields PP2 linemate Jordan Spence. This kid has been electric in limited ice time, especially on the road. Peeping the chart above, we see his name near the top of all major categories we look at. Sub 3K on DK is a steal for the potential.
Opponent - Arizona Coyotes
Others to consider: JJ Moser (DK $3.4K || FD $4.4K )
JIrv’s Discount Stacks and Sample Lineups
The value found especially with Calgary and Los Angeles should allow you to still fit in some of the big guns from Vancouver. Don't be afraid to go off the beaten path and distinguish yourself from the masses, and as always good luck Rotoballers!
