We have a pretty good Thursday slate on tap and I would like to open this up by thanking DraftKings and FanDuel for not being total tools an chopping off the first two games that start 20 minutes early. This six-game slate looks a lot better as one than four games and two games.
This article contains my picks for the six-game main slate on Thursday, September 7, 2023, for both DraftKings and FanDuel, which locks at 6:40 PM ET. At least there are no weather concerns to cut the slate down even further.
The lineup picks will range from some elite high-priced players to mid-priced options and value plays. I'll give you a few of my top pitching options and then some infielders, outfielders, and teams to stack. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Max Fried, ATL vs. STL ($9,600 DK, $10,600 FD)
Fried has strong numbers against St. Louis in his career and hasn't given up more than three runs in a start in more than a month. He's on cruise control like the rest of the Braves right now. I don't expect the Braves to work their starters too hard down the stretch, but Fried is gifted a win facing Adam Wainwright and should still get six innings or so. Even at a strikeout per inning, he'll pay off the nice discounted price on DK.
Javier Assad, CHC at ARI ($7,300 DK, $8,500 FD)
Assad hasn't given up more than three runs in a game all season and has only allowed one run in 15 innings with 14 strikeouts in his last two starts. Still not impressed? What if I told you that one of those starts was in Cincinnati? Assad is the least likely pitcher to get blown up and the uptick in strikeouts makes him a lot more valuable. His price still hasn't caught up yet on DK.
Others to consider: Luis Castillo ($11,000 DK, $10,300 FD) at TB; Carlos Rodon ($7,500 DK, $7,400 FD) vs. DET

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Miguel Cabrera - 1B, DET at NYY ($2,300 DK, $2,100 FD)
Miggy's career is just about done, and he is making the last month of it count. Since the calendar hit September, Cabrera has seven hits in three games with four RBI. He doesn't have much power left, but the veteran can still give us some hits and drive in some runs. He is 9-for-25(.360) in his career against Carlos Rodon with a double and two homers. I wouldn't expect a homer, but a double isn't out of the question.
Gleyber Torres - 2B, NYY vs. DET ($4,500 DK, $3,300 FD)
Gleyber Torres has smacked four homers in his last seven games. He has driven in eight runs in that span and tallied five multi-hit games. He has scored a run in every single one of those games. The kicker? Six of those seven games have come against the Detroit Tigers. Gleyber is particularly fond of Eduardo Rodriguez. He is 8-for-25(.320) against him with a double, a triple, and three homers off of him.
J.P. Crawford - SS, SEA at TB ($4,700 DK, $3,300 FD)
Crawford has slugged four homers in his last nine games, driving in nine runs and scoring nine in that span too. Number nine? Number nine? Anyway...Crawford is leading off for the Mariners and feels very cheap on FanDuel.
DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Mookie Betts - 2B/OF, LAD at MIA ($6,700 DK, $4,500 FD)
The price on Mookie is still absolutely insane on DraftKings, but I don't really blame them. He has 11 homers since August 1, four of them in the last ten games. He has cooled off a bit since I last used him, but Mookie is 2-for-4 in his career against Braxton Garrett. Both hits have left the yard.
Mickey Moniak - OF, LAA vs. CLE ($4,000 DK, $2,800 FD)
Moniak has slowed down after his scorching start for the Halos, but he quietly has five hits in the last three games. He also really likes Cal Quantrill. Moniak is 4-for-5 against Quantrill in his career with a double and two homers. The Angels have little to get excited about lately, but I can get a bit excited about Moniak for tonight.
Jordan Walker - OF, STL at ATL ($3,400 DK, $2,800 FD)
I was all ready to roll out Jasson Dominguez again (and I still will...the dude homered again last night), but then I realized that Walker is cheaper than him on DK. As hot as Dominguez has been, Walker has been hotter, hitting .457 with four homers, nine RBI, seven runs scored, and a steal over the last 10 games. I'll make this easy: if you run Fried, use Dominguez. If not, lock in Walker.
DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks
Atlanta Braves vs. Adam Wainwright
Would you believe me if I told you that the only current Brave that has homered off of Wainwright is Kevin Pillar? Of course you would, because you know I just looked it up. I don't expect that to be the case after this game. Wainwright's historically bad (and possibly record-settingly bad) season rolls on with him serving as the pitching machine in Atlanta tonight.
Favorite pieces: Marcell Ozuna, Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies, Matt Olson, Orlando Arcia
Also consider: New York Yankees vs. Eduardo Rodriguez
E-Rod has a nice 3.11 ERA on the season, but he has allowed 12 runs in his last four starts. The Yankees are finally starting to hit and they hit lefties pretty well. They have the fourth-best wRC+ against left-handed pitching in the last month.
Favorite pieces: Dominguez, Torres, Aaron Judge, Anthony Volpe
Sneaky Stack: Tampa Bay Rays vs. Luis Castillo
Castillo has been tagged twice in his last four starts. Once against the Royals and once against the Mets. Not really superior offenses. I'm not going to full-stack this, but many Rays hitters are available at a discount facing Castillo. They can help you fit in the big bats.
Favorite pieces: Brandon Lowe, Josh Lowe, Harold Ramirez, Rene Pinto, Yandy Diaz
