We had yet another massive main slate on Friday. Saturday's slate is smaller but no less exciting. Let's get to the picks!
Now that is out of the way, let's turn the focus to the evening. This article contains my picks for the main slate on Saturday, August 19, 2023, for both DraftKings and FanDuel, which locks at 7:05 PM ET.
The lineup picks will range from some elite high-priced players to mid-priced options and value plays. I'll give you a few of my top pitching options and then some infielders, outfielders, and teams to stack. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups.
DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Sonny Gray, MIN vs PIT ($8,700 DK, $9,400 FD)
Sonny Gray had a few bad games in a row back in mid-July but has been a solid pitcher for most of the season. Gray has rattled off five straight quality starts with seven or more strikeouts in his last three. The 33-year-old Twins' pitcher faces the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday. The Pirates have batted .228 with a 27.1% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching since the All-Star break. Gray should have no problem continuing his streak of solid starts.
Miles Mikolas, STL vs. NYM ($6,600 DK, $7,100 FD)
St Louis Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas had a good start his last time out until he went back out in the seventh inning. Mikolas had a quality start and was in line for the win through six innings but gave up two more earned runs in the seventh to give up the lead. On Saturday, Mikolas faces the New York Mets. The Mets have batted .222 with a 21% strikeout rate and a .716 OPS against right-handed pitching since the All-Star break. This is a decent bounce-back opportunity for Mikolas.
Others to consider: Kyle Freeland, COL vs. CWS ($5,100 DK, $6,400 FD)

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Jose Altuve - 2B, HOU vs. SEA ($6,300 DK, $4,200 FD)
Since returning from injury, Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve is back to the player he's been for years, batting over .300 while providing power and speed. On Saturday, Altuve faces Mariners starter Logan Gilbert. In his career against Gilbert, Altuve is 8-for-19 (.421) with a home run and an RBI. Altuve should continue his success against Gilbert on Saturday.
Ryan Mountcastle - 1B, BAL at OAK ($4,000 DK, $3,000 FD)
Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle has been raking since his activation from the injured list. Mountcastle was activated the day before the All-Star break, and since that time, he's slashed .367/.423/.592 with five home runs, 18 runs, and 16 RBI. On Saturday, Mountcastle is facing Oakland Athletics' starter Ken Waldichuk. Mountcastle did not have success in his previous three at-bats against Waldichuk, but I have a feeling Mountcastle will find some success on Saturday.
Kyle Farmer - 3B, MIN vs. PIT ($2,900 DK, $2,400 FD)
Minnesota Twins infielder Kyle Farmer has had a decent season in 2023, batting .242 with six home runs and 25 RBI in 248 at-bats. Farmer faces Pittsburgh Pirates starter Mitch Keller on Saturday. In his career against Keller, Farmer has gone 8-for-15 (.533) with an RBI. Farmer is also batting .333 in the last seven days. Farmer is a decent value at third base on Saturday.
DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Yordan Alvarez - OF, HOU vs SEA ($6,000 DK, $4,100 FD)
Houston Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez is having another decent season, batting over .277 with more than 20 home runs for the fourth time in four full seasons. Alvarez faces Mariners starter Logan Gilbert on Saturday. In his career against Gilbert, Alvarez is 5-for-17 (.294) with a home run and five RBI. Alvarez has the opportunity to improve that batting average against Gilbert on Saturday.
Riley Greene - OF, DET at CLE ($4,600 DK, $3,100 FD)
Since the All-Star break, Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene has batted .3o3 with five home runs, 17 runs, and 14 RBI. The power has come around for the left-handed hitter, who has hit nearly half of his home runs in the past month. Greene faces Cleveland Guardians starter, Tanner Bibee. Bibee is a good pitcher, so this is a challenging matchup, but Greene has had some success in the past. Greene is 3-for-9 (.333) with an RBI against Bibee and should have success again on Saturday.
Jeff McNeil - 2B/OF, NYM at STL ($3,900 DK, $2,700 FD)
New York Mets second baseman and outfielder Jeff McNeil is starting to show signs of turning his season around. After winning the batting title last season, McNeil has been dreadful for much of the year, but he has gone 11-for-33 (.333) with a home run and seven RBI in the last seven days. McNeil faces St Louis Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas on Saturday. In his career against Mikolas, McNeil is 6-for-11 (.545) with an RBI. McNeil should continue his hot streak on Saturday.
DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks
Houston Astros vs. Logan Gilbert
This stack is more about the strength of the Astros lineup than it is a knock on the talent of Logan Gilbert. The Astros have four hitters batting .273 or better in 11 or more at-bats against Gilbert. Four hitters with double-digit at-bats against Gilbert also have a home run against him. The Astros lineup is difficult for any pitcher to face, but that is especially true for Gilbert.
