Today I am Lenny Harris. A late-inning pinch hitter for MLB DFS today. We have a lot to get to with an eight-game slate and not a lot of time, so let's go!
This article contains my picks for the four-game main slate on Thursday, August 10, 2023, for both DraftKings and FanDuel, which locks at 6:40 PM ET. There is a chance of rain in the northeast, but it looks like all games should be able to play with a delay possible in Philly and Boston.
The lineup picks will range from some elite high-priced players to mid-priced options and value plays. I'll give you a few of my top pitching options and then some infielders, outfielders, and teams to stack. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups.
DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Clayton Kershaw, LAD vs. COL ($10,000 DK, $10,700 FD)
Kershaw has a 2.20 career ERA at Dodger Stadium in 211 starts. On top of that, he is 27-11 in his career against the Rockies franchise. I don't care if he is on a pitch count. The Rockies are only hitting .233 against lefties this year with a 29.4% K-rate and are hitting a pathetic .236 on the road. Five innings of Kershaw against this team should pay off this price.
Zack Littell, TB vs. STL ($6,900 DK, $7,200 FD)
Littell has only allowed two runs on 11 hits in 11 innings since taking over Shane McClanahan's spot in the rotation. He only has five strikeouts in those two games, but Littell limits baserunners and induces a ton of ground balls. I'll take that instead of playing with the powder keg that is Aaron Nola or the rest of the risky propositions on this slate. I'll be playing it safe with my SP2 tonight.
Others to consider: James Paxton ($9,300 DK, $9,700 FD) vs. KC

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Alec Bohm - 1B/3B, PHI vs. WAS ($4,400 DK, $3,200 FD)
Bohm has two bombs against Patrick Corbin already in his career. Overall, Bohm is 7-for-20 against Corbin with four of those hits going for extra bases. If that isn't enough, Bohm is hitting .405 with three homers, 11 RBI, nine runs, and a steal in August. As T-Bird said in The Crow... Fire it up! Fire it up!
Mookie Betts - 2B/OF(DK) - 2B/SS/OF(FD), LAD vs. COL ($6,400 DK, $4,400 FD)
Mookie has 11 homers in just 128 at-bats against left-handed pitching this season. On top of that, he has two homers and seven RBI in the last four games alone. Don't worry, he's feasting on the Rockies too. Mookie is hitting .375 against them in five games this season with a homer, a steal, three doubles, four RBI, and six runs scored. This won't end well for the Rockies.
Maikel Garcia - SS/3B,KC at BOS ($3,800 DK, $2,900 FD)
Garcia is riding a 13-game hitting streak in which he is hitting .306 with eight RBI, four steals, and 10 runs scored while striking out only nine times. I need savings somewhere, and taking a streaking leadoff hitter who is still affordable seems like a good idea to me.
DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Nick Castellanos - OF, PHI vs. WAS ($4,600 DK, $3,100 FD)
Castellanos has a 10-game hitting streak going with five homers, 10 RBI, and eight runs scored in that time. He even stole a base, marking the 28th theft of his 11-year major league career. Tonight he gets notorious tomato can Patrick Corbin. Casty smashes lefties anyway. He is hitting .317 against them this season. Castellanos might be my favorite play on the entire slate tonight.
Alex Verdugo - OF, BOS vs. KC ($3,800 DK, $2,900 FD)
Many will see that a left-hander is starting for the Royals and click righties, but Austin Cox likely won't pitch two full innings before giving way to Alec Marsh. Verdugo is hitting .313 over the last 10 games with a homer, four RBI, a steal, and four runs. He already has two doubles in the two games that he has started in this series. I'm jumping on Verdugo as he's starting to get hot.
Drew Waters - OF, KC at BOS ($2,700 DK, $2,500 FD)
Three of his seven homers on the season have come in the month of August already, along with seven RBI and a pair of steals. Waters is starting to get acclimated to major-league pitching. He comes at a nice discount tonight on a slate where we really need some value.
DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Matthew Liberatore
The Rays are a pesky team, which can lead to undesired results from a young pitcher. Liberatore has given up at least three runs in each of his last five starts, including four runs in Miami while only recording one out before landing on the IL. His return wasn't any better as the Twins smacked him for five runs and two homers in 5 2/3 innings last week.
Favorite pieces: Harold Ramirez, Wander Franco, Yandy Diaz, Isaac Paredes, Jose Siri
Also consider: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Ty Blach
Yes, the value lefties won't be as effective against the lefty starter, but this bullpen is awful and most of the team hits lefties just fine, thank you.
Favorite pieces: Mookie, Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Chris Taylor, Kike Hernandez
Sneaky Stack: Washington Nationals vs. Aaron Nola
The Nats were just no-hit by Michael Lorenzen last night, so you can expect the rostered rate on Nola to be north of 50%. This is the time to attack. Nola has allowed 12 runs (10 earned) to the powerhouse offenses of the Royals and Pirates over the last two games. He is not pitching well and this Nationals lineup has a ton of great pieces on the cheap.
Favorite pieces: CJ Abrams, Dominic Smith, Keibert Ruiz, Jake Alu
