Last night was not the night to fade the Dodgers in Coors, as they hung 13 on the Rockies as chalk and in doing so kept a bunch of my lineups from cashing in the process.
We will have to make the tough decision to play or fade (or at least which specific Dodgers to play or fade) again tonight as they face Chad Kuhl, a pitcher who threw a complete game shut out against them about a month ago. But there are a lot of other games on this slate, and plenty of other spots to target, and my job is to help find you some of those plays to elevate your lineups into the green tonight.
As always, this article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. Friday's main slate locks at 7:05 EST on 7/29/2022. The lineup picks will range from some elite high-priced players to mid-priced options, and value plays. I'll give you a few of my top pitching options and then some infielders, outfielders, and teams to stack! You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all of that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
If you like data, here are some projections for today's starting pitchers. Green is good for the pitcher, while red is bad!

Gerrit Cole vs. KCR ($10,400 DK, $11,000 FD)
After watching Jameson Taillon dominate this Royals lineup that saw their best hitter now in pinstripes (Andrew Benintendi), it's hard not to just slot Cole into cash lineups and move along. The only issue here is that there are some other very worthy aces on this slate, so there's not a ton of separation from Cole to the rest of the field. He has massive win equity as a -300 favorite and I have him for around 7-8 strikeouts, too. He's a great choice in all formats, but will likely be very popular.
Brandon Woodruff @ TBR ($10,000 DK, $10,300 FD)
Woody is my pivot guy for tournaments. He's been great in all but one start since returning from the IL, and has flashed the type of strikeout stuff that we saw last season in his breakout campaign. The Red Sox have been whiffing a ton lately (29% against RHP over the last 14 days) and Woody's 40% K rate against lefties bodes well for this match-up if Boston ends up going with 5 lefties in the lineup.
Alek Manoah vs. DET ($9,400 DK, $10,200 FD)
If you want to save a little more scratch, Manoah is solid, but not that sexy option here. He's been fabulous pretty much all season and while he doesn't have the same elite K upside that you get with Cole or Woodruff, his run prevention has been fantastic and Detroit's numbers across the board against RHP are still very, very bad. I wouldn't play him over Woody on FD for 100 less, but for 600 less on DK, he's a worthy cash game option.
Martin Perez @ LAA ($8,400 DK, $9,600 FD)
Speaking of cash games on DK, here is your SP2 to pair with Cole or Manoah. We have all been waiting for Perez to turn into a pumpkin this season, but at this point, I don't think it's happening. He's been incredibly reliable and effective this year for Texas, and he may have just finally figured out how to optimize his pitch mix. He doesn't overpower guys, but he's getting great results and the match-up couldn't be better here as he gets the hapless Angels offense.
Also consider - Jeffrey Springs, Bailey Falter (both as DK SP2 options)

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Gleyber Torres - 2B, NYY vs. Kris Bubic ($5,000 DK, $3,200 FD)
The Yanks cleanup hitter is sporting a .411 wOBA and .367 ISO against lefties this season. Even if you don't want to stack the Yankees entirely, you should strongly consider Torres and the future AL MVP Aaron Judge against Bubic, who has been blasted this year.
Freddie Freeman - 1B, LAD vs. Chad Kuhl ($5,800 DK, $4,400 FD)
If I am allowed to recommend one Dodger today, let it be Freeman. Chad Kuhl has always struggled with lefties, and this season is no exception as he's allowing a .358 wOBA and .218 ISO to southpaws. Freddie is doing his usual thing and smashing RHP to the tune of a .410 wOBA and .228 ISO. He's been easily the hottest Dodger in the lineup over the last two weeks, too. He's pricey but he'd be my priority spend-up on this slate at first base.
Alejandro Kirk - C, TOR vs. Bryan Garcia ($4,700 DK, $3,500 FD)
Kirk has been one of the best hitting catchers in baseball this year, so good that the Jays can DH him occasionally to give his knees a break and keep his bat in the lineup. He has a solid .393 wOBA against righties this season and the Blue Jays are another chalky spot that we can't ignore on this slate. Their facing Garcia, a Triple-A level arm who is making his first appearance at the big league level this season. Last year, he allowed a 15% barrel rate and only a 17% strikeout rate. He's never flashed any signs of being good in the minors, either, Detroit just has no other options but to bring up a sacrificial lamb to eat some innings.
DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Seth Brown - 1B/OF, OAK vs. Lance Lynn ($2,900 DK, $2,700 FD)
Brown is always one of my favorite values when he draws a favorable match-up. This season he has 11 home runs off RHP and a .210 ISO. Lance Lynn has been downright awful so far this season since returning from injury, allowing a .372 wOBA and .217 ISO to lefties. I am on the over in this game as I think both offenses could take advantage of underperforming pitchers.
Christian Yelich - OF, MIL vs. Bryan Bello ($4,500 DK, $3,400 FD)
Yelich is leading off for the Brewers, who are implied for over five runs against Boston. The Red Sox pitching staff has been a disaster lately, and Bello has really labored through all three of his first MLB starts after being talked up as if he was a sure-fire prospect. The Brewers have the bats to make a struggling rookie pay, and Yelich is in great form here, too, having collected a hit in seven straight games, while drawing six walks during that stretch, too. He'll be on base tonight.
Dylan Carlson - OF, STL vs. Anibal Sanchez ($4,100 DK, $2,800 FD)
I wanted to put Gavin Sheets here, but I am not sure he will crack the lineup for the Chi Sox. Carlson is a worthy play tonight, based on his recent strong stretch of hitting and the match-up with the veteran gas can Sanchez. The Washington pen has been terrible, too, so there's no reason to think he doesn't get 4-5 solid opportunities for switch-hitting Carlson here where he has the advantage.
DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks
Here are my top stacks for tonight (in the order in which I like them)
- New York Yankees (5.9 implied run total) vs. Kris Bubic (5.19 xFIP)
- Toronto Blue Jays (5.9 implied run total) vs. Bryan Garcia (5.90 career xFIP)
- Milwaukee Brewers (5.2 implied run total) vs. Bryan Bello (5.22 xFIP)
The Dodgers are not listed here because you don't need to me tell you they are projected for over 7 runs and they're obviously in play tonight in Coors, right?
