Today's DFS slate is very intriguing as we have a mix of bottom-of-the-rotation starters, potential breakout candidates, and some arms who have shown some velocity concerns in spring training.
We will do our best to navigate some bad chalk and find some plays with just as much upside in the same price range. We have two stacks today that shouldn't get a ton of ownership, and some value that will make our lineups work on both sites without sacrificing upside.
This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 4/3/2023 and the slate locking at 7:05 pm ET. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Reid Detmers, SEA vs. LAA ($8,200 DK, $9,600 FD)
Reid Detmers makes his debut in 2023 against the Seattle Mariners after a strong spring in which he struck out 27 batters in 20 innings pitched. Detmers had a 22.6% K in 2022 and will face a Mariners lineup that had a 23.0% K vs. lefties in 2022. The 22.6% K should also be a floor for Detmers, as those numbers were much higher throughout his entire minor league career as one of the LA Angel's top prospects. The matchup comes with some risk but should also keep the ownership numbers in check. The upside should certainly be there as he went 87 and 73 pitches in his final two spring training starts.
Brady Singer, KC vs. TOR ($8,900 DK, $9,200 FD)
Brady Singer gets a tough matchup at home against the Toronto Blue Jays to open his 2023 season. He was dynamite in the second half of 2022, possessing a 2.53 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and a 24.8% K. It’s carried over into the spring as he has dominated once again, and after going 68 pitches in his final tune-up, the leash should almost be fully extended. I also love Nestor Cortes and George Kirby in this price range. Still, Kirby only maxed out at 37 pitches this spring, and Cortes is coming back from a hamstring injury, so give me the two guys I know will have an extended leash with just as much upside in Detmers and Singer.
Hunter Brown, HOU vs. DET ($7,400 DK, $9,100 FD)
The Astro's top prospect gets the ball in a dream matchup against the Detroit Tigers. Hunter Brown, in his limited sample size in the big leagues last season, had a 24.5% K and gets to face off against one of the most lucrative matchups in baseball as the Tigers had a 24.8% K to right-hand pitching in 2022 and scored three runs in there opening series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Brown has the potential to have an elite K rate this season, as it was over 30% at every level he pitched, but there is some concern here as he is coming off a back injury that occurred late in the spring.
If he becomes steamed up throughout the day, this play will become a fade because of the injury concerns and he only maxed out at 40 pitches this spring. We need to pay attention to ownership as the day progresses, as I can see him becoming very chalky. This is a DraftKings play only, as he is overpriced on FanDuel.
Also consider: Nestor Cortes, Geroge Kirby

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Christian Walker- 1B, ARZ vs. Ryan Weathers ($3,800 DK, $2,900 FD)
Christian Walker is my favorite play on the entire slate and gets my home run call of the day tag. He is a lefty masher as he had a .232 ISO and .357 wOBA vs. lefties in 2022. Over the last two seasons, his opponent Ryan Weathers has allowed a .522 and .412 SLG against right-handed hitters. To make matters worst, the only thing Weathers does well is keep the ball on the ground, but Walker's 40.4% FB rate should negate that.
Vinnie Pasquantino- 1B, KC vs. Jose Berrios ($3,900 DK, $3,100 FD)
Vinnie Pasquantino has been quiet to start the season, but the breakout game is coming soon, and I think it will happen here. Berrios is another candidate who has seen a velocity dip this spring, and in 2022 he allowed a .373 wOBA and a .514 SLG against left-hand hitters. Vinnie P had a .180 ISO and a .350 wOBA against righties last season with only a 12.0% K. The ball will be put in play here, and with the velocity dip, Berrios will likely be hit hard.
Gleyber Torres- 2B, NYY vs. Taijuan Walker ($4,700 DK, $3,500 FD)
Gleyber Torres is off to an efficient 2023 after scoring three runs, with a home run, two runs batted in, and two stolen bases in the opening series. Torres led off yesterday, although we saw Lemaheiu get the day off. It will immediately improve his daily production if he can sustain that lineup spot. As I mention later, Walker is not fully himself in 2023, and I expect the Yankees to get to him here. Torres has a .429 ISO and a .353 wOBA to start the year and give us some upside at a tough second-base position on DK and Fanduel.
DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Aaron Judge- OF, NYY vs. Taijuan Walker ($6,400 DK, $4,500 FD)
Aaron Judge has continued his incredible 2022 season by hitting two home runs to start his 2023 campaign. Judge has four home runs in 11 at-bats against his opponent Taijuan Walker, and as we will get into more about in the stack section, Walker's velocity has been down this spring, and it has caused him to get hit all around the yard.
Kyle Tucker- OF, HOU vs. Matthew Boyd ($5,300 DK, $4,100 FD)
When Kyle Tucker faces a left-hand pitcher, he is always one of my favorite plays on the slate. In 2022 Tucker had a .213 ISO with a .304 wOBA against lefties. In 2022 he had a .292 ISO with a .378 wOBA. The best part of this play is when Tucker faces a lefty, he always comes in at low ownership, and his foe today, Matthew Boyd, has shown signs of having reverse splits.
Kyle Lewis- OF, ARZ vs. Ryan Weathers ($2,300 DK, $2,400 FD)
Kyle Lewis will get the platoon split tonight as the Diamondbacks face a lefty and should be in the lead-off spot. Lewis has opened the season with a .444 ISO and a .377 wOBA as he looks to be healthy for the first time since his rookie of the year campaign in 2020. Lewis hit .387 in spring with a .774 SLG and three home runs. The price is also very intriguing here for Lewis, as he opens up a lot on both sites as we slide him into our lineups.
DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks
1. New York Yankees
The New York Yankees square off against Taijun Walker at Yankee Stadium tonight, and I look for this to be a short outing for Walker. We have seen Walker struggle this spring to a 7.71 ERA and a 1.92 WHIP. His velocity on all his pitches in his last start was almost three MPH down, which is a major red flag. The Yankees with Judge (.639 wOBA, .333 ISO), Rizzo (.143 ISO, .404 wOBA), Torres (.429 ISO, .353 wOBA), Stanton (.333 ISO, .335 wOBA) and Donaldson (.375 ISO, .377 wOBA) are off to a hot start in 2023, and not to mention these numbers are very close in line with the 2022 numbers.
Favorite Plays: Aaron Judge, Gleyber Torres, Anthony Rizzo, Josh Donaldson
2. Arizona Diamondback vs. Ryan Weathers
The Diamondbacks get a dream matchup against Ryan Weathers, and the pricing on both sites gives us all the value we need. I prefer the Diamondbacks as a mini stack here, but I’m fine going all in on a full 5 man on DraftKings. In 2022 Weathers allowed a 2.73 WHIP, .412 SLG, and .402 wOBA. In 2021 he had a 1.38 WHIP, .497 SLG, and a .356 wOBA. He doesn’t miss bats either, as he had an 18.0% K and a 14.3% K in his two stints in the big leagues. Maybe he made some adjustments this off-season? Maybe not. Weathers had a 4.91 ERA this spring, allowing five home runs in 14.2 innings pitched. The ballpark is not ideal, but Weathers is so bad it doesn’t matter.
Favorite Plays: Christian Walker, Kyle Lewis, Ketel Marte, Gabriel Moreno
Also Consider:
3. Los Angeles Dodgers
4. Houston Astros
5. Kansas City Royals
