We have another action-packed prime-time slate for Week 8 of the 2023 season. There are only seven games on the docket but all of them include at least one explosive offense. It doesn't get much better than this!
We kick off in the Little Apple with TCU in town for a purple-lovers showdown. Texas Tech heads out to Provo to face BYU. Ole Miss heads down to Auburn to roll the Tigers. Duke is in Tallahassee to try and do something they have never done (beat the Seminoles). Little brother hosts Michigan. Clemson heads down to Miami to take on the Hurricanes. We end this at the Coliseum with Utah in town to face USC.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 10/21/23, locking at 7 PM Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions for players at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks
Avery Johnson, Kansas State ($8,100)
The only thing that is clear is that both quarterbacks will play for Kansas State. That's purposefully vague and does nothing to help us DFS types. What is perfectly clear is that Johnson outplayed Will Howard by a mile. The five rushing touchdowns by Johnson are an anomaly, but he will see enough action in this game to possibly pay off the price. Unless the Wildcats trail early or Will Howard plays like he did last year, Johnson should play at least half the game.
Tyler Van Dyke, Miami ($6,400)
Clemson is going to lock down the run game, so Van Dyke will have to throw and throw well for Miami to have any shot at winning this game. Van Dyke is going to make some mistakes, but if we can get somewhere near 300 yards out of him, he will pay off this price. He's worth the risk tonight.
Also consider: Caleb Williams, USC ($10,500); Jaxson Dart, Mississippi ($9,500); Kedon Slovis, BYU ($7,100)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs
Quinshon Judkins, Mississippi ($6,600)
Auburn's defense has been solid this year, but it keeps getting put into bad situations by the Auburn offense. The Auburn run defense has been the way to attack them. Part of this is because everyone has been playing ahead against Auburn. Those stats still count the same. Judkins won't have a ceiling game here, but he's not priced like he needs one anymore either.
Ja'Quinden Jackson, Utah ($5,300)
At this point, even if Cameron Rising plays, he's not going to be 100%. The Utes are still going to have to lean heavily on the run. Jackson can be a workhorse back when healthy. He looked the part against Cal last week. I expect a strong game out of Jackson in his price range. USC shouldn't be able to put the Utes in a big hole, so Jackson should get a heavy load with unproven quarterbacks in there.
Also consider: Blake Corum, Michigan ($8,100); Tahj Brooks, Texas Tech ($6,500); Ulysses Bentley, Mississippi ($4,700); Donald Chaney, Miami ($3,900)
DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers
Xavier Restrepo, Miami ($6,700)
Restrepo has 23 catches in the last two games alone! He has scored four touchdowns in the last three weeks. Restrepo hasn't been under 20 DraftKings points since Week 1 against Miami of Ohio. With all of Miami's problems, Restrepo isn't one of them. The way to get to Clemson is over the top. Miami has more than a fighting chance of doing that tonight.
John Paul Richardson, TCU ($6,100)
Who knew that making a change to a quarterback who looks beyond five yards with regularity could jump-start an offense? Sonny Dykes sure doesn't because he is so enamored with what Chandler Morris is on paper that he never bothered to make him prove it on the field. Richardson exploded once backup Josh Hoover took over for the Toadies. He could have a monster game against Kansas State tonight.
Savion Williams, TCU ($5,700)
What we have here is a situation where DraftKings hasn't yet adjusted to the change in TCU's offense. They are throwing a lot more and throwing successfully without Chandler Morris. This is our one-week window to jump on Hoover and his receivers at bargain prices. Williams has 11 targets against BYU, bringing in six of them for 77 yards and a touchdown. Expect more of the same, which makes him a great option for the price.
Brenden Rice, USC ($5,300)
USC had issues on offense, but Rice still scored a touchdown. That's eight in seven games for Rice on only 23 receptions. He isn't going to break a slate, but he will more than likely score. That is the only sure thing about the USC offense right now.
Also consider: Tre Harris, Mississippi ($7,500); Jordan Watkins, Mississippi ($6,500); Johnny Wilson, Florida State ($5,800); Jordan Moore, Duke ($5,400); Jacolby George, Miami ($4,400)
DraftKings CFB Stacks:
Mississippi
Yes, Auburn's defense has been solid, but solid won't prevent this offense from going nuts on them. I feel a lot better about stacking the backs (Judkins/Bentley) than a full stack here, but Jaxson Dart and one of either Tre Harris or Watkins still fit thanks to the affordability of Bentley.
Texas Tech
Texas Tech has not had good luck in the mountains so far this year, but BYU's defense has been terrible, in particular the pass defense. Josh Hoover breathed life into a stagnant offense when Chandler Morris went down, much like Max Duggan did last year. Unfortunately for the Toadies, Morris didn't get hurt until Week 7 this year. We're going to see a different TCU team. Hoover/Morrison/Richardson are going to have big games at a very reasonable price.
Also consider: Miami, TCU
