Worth the DraftKings Investment
Russell Westbrook (OKC, PG) - $12,000
Westbrook’s incredible run of four straight triple-doubles came to an end in his last game, but he still scored 43 points with eight rebounds, seven assists, two steals and three treys. I guess it is to be expected that he would slow down a little after breaking his face. If this is slowing down, I am all-in on Westbrook.
It is so hard to pay up for any player when his price gets up to this level. However, Westbrook is worth it. He has taken at least 32 shots and 14 free throw attempts in each of his last four games. He has produced 82, 76.25, 95, and 66.5 fantasy points over that same span. Westbrook still has been hitting value even at his inflated price point. Until Kevin
Durant returns, Russell will be a staple in my lineups.
Greg Monroe (DET, PF) - $7,700
Monroe also just had an impressive streak come to an end. He had a streak of five consecutive double-doubles end in his last game. However, he still managed to put up 43 fantasy points.
Earlier this season, Monroe saw his value spike when the Pistons released Josh Smith. Well, it appears to be happening again, as the big man has been on a tear since the arrival of Reggie Jackson. He draws a favorable matchup against Cody Zeller that he should be able to dominate. His price is a bit low for a guy that is a near lock for a double-double.
Al Jefferson (CHA, C) - $7,700
Jefferson is another guy that is clearly benefitting from a new arrival. When Kemba Walker went down, the Hornets were left with a black hole at the point guard position. Ever since Charlotte made the trade to acquire Mo Williams, Big Al’s game has taken off.
Jefferson has quietly racked up six double-doubles in his last ten games. He gets a favorable matchup with the Pistons, who are giving up the 2nd most fantasy points to opposing centers this season. Andre Drummond piles up rebounds and blocks, but overall is not a very good defender. Similar to Monroe, Big Al has a great chance for double-double at a reasonable price. Start Jefferson with confidence.
DraftKings Value Picks
Jordan Clarkson (LAL, PG) - $4,800
The Lakers are in full rebuild mode, and are giving their younger players a chance to show what they can do. They are really high on Clarkson, and for good reason. He has proven that he can play at the NBA level. Consistency has been his biggest issue, but that can be expected from any rookie player.
In his last game, Clarkson exploded for a career high 25 points, four rebounds, six assists and one three on 12-18 shooting against a very good Memphis Grizzlies team. He has been more consistent lately, scoring in double figures in six straight games. He is getting a ton of minutes as the starting point guard for the Lakers right now. Clarkson is also taking a lot of shots, so he is in great position to pay off his salary on Sunday.
