How can any of us that live in the New York area take attorney general Eric Schneiderman seriously? On Monday, DFS sites including DraftKings launched multiple statements proclaiming that they have reached a deal with the state of New York and will not offer pay for contests to its residents. Within moments of hearing the news, I heard commercials on the radio involving the “illegal gambling” umbrella that sites such as DraftKings have been operating under over the last few years. Naturally, as soon as that ad was over, I heard a commercial promoting Resorts World Casino, New York’s premier casino and it’s right in the city! Still scratching my head.
In this article, I will be providing you with Daily NBA picks for DraftKings for 3/22/16. The picks will range from some of the elite players, to mid-priced options, and value plays. DraftKings DFS Point Guards
Russell Westbrook (vs HOU, $10,600)
With just four games on tap for Tuesday night, why mess around. This should be an up tempo game, fitting right into the stud point guard’s skills set. And if Kevin Durant does miss time due to a sore elbow, look out.
Jrue Holiday (vs MIA, $8,200)
Don’t forget about Holiday. With Anthony Davis’s shutdown and Ryan Anderson most likely sitting out on Tuesday, Holiday remains really the only scoring option for the Pelicans.
Ray McCallum (at LAL, $3,200)
And here’s the reason why you can afford Westbrook. The Grizz will continue to trudge along without Mike Conley and McCallum appears to be, at least right now, the heir apparent during this tumultuous time. He has played a total of 60 minutes over the last two games, despite shooting 9-for-22 from the field. He has such a high floor compared to his price that I expect him to be heavily owned Tuesday night. I love picking on the Lakers backcourt, so I will have no problems rostering McCallum in cash games.
DraftKings DFS Shooting Guards
James Harden (at OKC, $10,500)
Beware the Beard in his return to OKC.
Dwyane Wade (at NOP, $6,500)
Beware the blowout in NOLA.
Bojan Bogdanovic (vs CHA, $5,500)
The Bog has been the focal points of the Nets offense- whatever the “Nets offense” is- since Joe Johnson was bought out. His ownership numbers and subsequent price tag have exploded, which is the main reason I am a little hesitate to roster him Tuesday night. Still, he is pretty cash safe for at least another game before the price tag becomes absurdly high.
Courtney Lee (at BKN, $3,400)
Lee is starting to finally come into his own in a Charlotte uniform. Against the Spurs, he went off for 17 points, two boards and two dimes, with a stellar four steals, in 33 minutes. He is seeing a nice run of court time in the Hornets rotations and if this game does turn out to be a blowout, expect Lee to spell Nicolas Batum in garbage time.
DraftKings DFS Small Forwards
Matt Barnes (at LAL, $5,600)
Tony Allen (at LAL, $4,700)
Alex Stepheson (at LAL, $3,000)
Another round of recommending Grizzlies is upon us. Lance Stephenson’s price is getting a little outrageous considering his recent production so he will be a GPP play at best. Barnes is the safest play of the three listed above but Allen has incredible tournament upside. Believe it or not, the Lakers have been rather solid at limiting steals, but they have given up nearly 10 per game over the last three. Allen could really have a monster game if he steps into his role as the Grindfather. As for Stepheson? I’m not really sure what to think, but he is going to get at least some playing time and maybe he goes off. Try to get some exposure to him in tournaments.
Luke Babbitt (vs MIA, $3,700)
Just because Alvin Gentry is going to force Babbitt down our throats, whether we like it or not.
DraftKings DFS Power Forwards
Zack Randolph (at LAL, $6,800)
Z-Bo absolutely crushed his the Clippers in his first game back from injury and he followed it up 14 points, 13 board performance against the Suns. He is the clear cut favorite at the power forward position for Tuesday night and figures to get heavy minutes against the soft Lakers front court.
Donatas Motiejunas (at OKC, $3,200)
After Z-Bo, owners can look several different directions. There is really no one at the four that is cash safe outside of Randolph, but you can certainly make the case for D-Mo. He has returned solid value in three of his last four outings, going for 31 DraftKings points against Memphis, 35.75 against Minnesota, and 24 in Atlanta. There was a rough eight minute game against the Clippers slopped in there, but it appears the dude is healthy again and finding his way into the offense. At his price, he is well worth some exposure in tournaments.
DraftKings DFS Centers
Cody Zeller (at BKN, $3,500)
Omer Asik (vs MIA, $3,500)
Obviously Hassan Whiteside is the clear cut favorite in cash games, if you can afford him. But Zeller and Asik offer phenomenal value so you can roster some of these heavy hitters up top. Zeller has been a rebounding/minute machine this season and seems locked into a nearly 30 minute per game rotation right now. As for Asik, it makes sense that he is the focal point of the Pelicans frontcourt offense. Well, there is literally no one else. Since both of these guys are at the same price, I am leaning toward Asik in cash games.
