An excellent slate is on tap for Thursday’s games, but it’ll be tough to not target two games in particular. The Nuggets and Wizards will tip off early in the night in what figures to be an up-and-down game with plenty of scoring. The late slate offers an incredibly fantasy appealing matchup between the Kings and Pelicans, especially if The Brow sits again. If you are a fan of the stacking strategy, tonight is the time to employ it.
In this article, I will be providing you with Daily NBA picks for DraftKings for 1/28/16. The picks will range from some of the elite players, to mid-priced options, and value plays. Be sure to check out my podcast every Monday and Thursday right here at Rotoballer for all your DFS needs.

DraftKings DFS Point Guards
John Wall (vs DEN, $9,100)
Denver’s perimeter defense is bad. Like real bad. Like 28th against point guards on the season kind of bad. John Wall is not exactly the type of guard that will bring those numbers back down. Optimus Dime’s nickname has proven true as of late. The sixth-year veteran out of Kentucky has recorded double-digit assists in five straight games. There’s no reason that shouldn’t continue.
Jrue Holiday (vs SAC, $6,700)
Eric Gordon’s injury may have opened a small door for Norris Cole, but Holiday is the guy that looks to benefit the most, even if he is coming off the bench. For starters, he is a better player than Cole. He just is. He also has been balling lately. Holiday has dropped 41.4 DKFPPG in five of his last six games, averaging 20 points, four rebounds and 9.2 assists per game during that span. He also put up a dud against Detroit, but we'll chalk that up to a tough Pistons defense. Holiday should get plenty of chances in an up-tempo matchup with the Kings.
DraftKings DFS Shooting Guards
Jimmy Butler (at LAL, $8,800)
Don’t overthink this one. The Lakers are terrible and Butler eats up terrible teams. Remember when he scored 50 real life points against the Sixers? There’s also a slim chance that Derrick Rose will sit due to injury (surprise!), which leads to Butler playing more point. Arrow up.
Will Barton (at WAS, $5,700)
Don’t look now but it appears Barton’s forgettable two-week run is over and it couldn’t have come at a better time. His price has dipped from “utterly foolish” to “mostly acceptable,” and the Nuggets will have a nice matchup with the fantasy friendly, fast paced Washington Wizards. The Wiz have been exploited by players at the two and the swing at a remarkable pace, and it not just from starters. Bench players have really lit up the Wizards over their last eight games. Look for Barton to continue that trend.
DraftKings DFS Small Forwards
Danilo Gallinari (at WAS, $7,000)
In case the league’s worst secret isn’t out yet, Otto Porter is not a good defender. At all. He owns a career 105 DRating and this year is no different with a “stellar” rating of 106. Gallinari remains a consistent offensive threat for the Nuggets and is locked in for a run of anywhere from 32-36 minutes. His price is excellent for his upside as well.
Alonzo Gee (vs SAC, $4,100)
I really wish the Pelicans were playing the Wizards Thursday night. If that were the case there would be no limit to the amount of Gee Wiz comments I could make, leading to the final component of my inevitable alienation from my already dwindling fan base. Instead, Mr. Gee gets an almost as juicy matchup with the fast-paced Sacramento Kings. Gee has been starting lately, going 15-of-22 from the field over his last four games while hauling in 29 total boards during that span.
DraftKings DFS Power Forwards
DeMarcus Cousins (at NO, $11,000)
I’ll make this quick. If Anthony Davis does not play- and it’s looking increasingly likely that he will not- then Boogie will absolutely demolish the Pelican front court. Heck, even if The Brow does go, Cousins should feast. Chalk up his last game to fatigue after coming off a double-overtime loss the night before.
Ryan Anderson (vs SAC, $6,300)
A common theme with the New Orleans Pelicans this season: The Brow is out and Anderson steps up big. In six starts this season, Anderson is averaging nearly 40 minutes, 17.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. He has not been terribly efficient in those starts and stands the chance of getting absolutely demolished by Boogie, but we’re only worried about total offensive numbers, however ugly they come.
Taj Gibson (at LAL, $5,500)
I love the top two choices in Cousins and Anderson, but I implore you all to give Taj a nice look look for Thursday’s slate. Nikola Mirotic had an emergency appendectomy and will miss Thursday’s game, while Joakim Noah is out for what looks like a long, long time. The minutes are oh-so-hard to ignore. Plus, it’s the Lakers.
DraftKings DFS Centers
Pau Gasol (at LAL, $8,700)
This isn’t rocket science. Gasol is on fire right now after obliterating two tough defensive teams (Miami and Cleveland, respectively) in just an average of 35 minutes during those games. The Lakers are the complete opposite of those teams and pose absolutely no threat to Gasol. Except for maybe getting blown out, limiting Gasol’s minutes. Wouldn’t that be revenge for the Bulls?
Marcin Gortat (vs DEN, $7,100)
It’s looking increasingly like these last five forwards and centers will get a lot of exposure in my lineups tonight. Gortat remains a cash safe stud with his consistent offensive production. He just missed out on his fifth straight double-double in Tuesday’s loss to Toronto by two rebounds. Look for him to start a new double-double streak against the Nuggets in what figures to be an up-and-down game.
