There will be plenty of action on Friday night as all 30 teams are included in the DraftKings main slate. Of the 15 games, six have over/unders of at least nine total runs. The game to watch, of course, is in Colorado as the OAK/COL matchup leads the way with an over/under of 11.5 total runs. The Rockies are slight favorites, so expect to see at least one bat from their lineup in our suggestions article.
When it comes to favorites, four teams are deemed as heavy favorites according to Vegas (-200, or greater): Yankees, Astros, Red Sox, and Nationals. That could help determine at least one pitching spot on our roster for DraftKings on Friday night.

DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers
Zack Greinke, ARI (@ SD) - $10,700
We have some very expensive pitchers on the Friday slate and I will gladly save some money and take Greinke. His $10,700 price tag is the fifth-most expensive on the docket and I have Greinke as the third-best pitcher on the night (behind Chris Sale and Max Scherzer). Greinke has allowed two earned runs, or less, in six consecutive appearances and he struck out 13 batters in his last outing. The Padres are 28th in runs scored (390 runs in 105 games) and first in team strikeouts (988) this season.
CC Sabathia, NYY (vs. KC) - $6,900
One of the biggest favorites on the schedule is New York (-290). Sure, Sabathia has allowed at least four earned runs in back-to-back appearances, but he had a stretch of seven games where he didn’t allow more than three earned runs in a performance. Also, Sabathia has struck out at least five batters in four of the past eight starts. One surprisingly bright spot for Sabathia is that he’s pitching at Yankee Stadium. This season, he’s 4-1 with a 2.59 ERA at home (4.67 ERA on the road).
DraftKings DFS Infielders
C - Yadier Molina, STL (vs. CHC) - $3,800
Hot bat? Check (he’s 11-for-28 in the past week). Solid ISO? Check (he owns a .235 ISO against left-handed pitchers since 2017). Not only is Molina batting .393 in the past week, but he owns a .338 AVG in the month of July. Plus, the sub-$4K price tag is a nice perk, too.
1B - Kendrys Morales, TOR (@ CWS) - $3,900
There’s a couple starting pitchers I’ll look to attack on Friday night and Reynaldo Lopez is one of them. He’s allowed at least five earned runs in back-to-back outings and he’s walked at least four batters in two of the past three games. Morales is 8-for-21 (.381) with one double and four walks in the past week. He’s notched at least two hits in three of the past four contests, too.
2B - Lourdes Gurriel Jr., TOR (@ CWS) - $3,500
As long as DraftKings fails to acknowledge Gurriel, I’ll keep investing. He’s tallied at least two hits in eight consecutive contests. That amounts to double-digit DK points in five of the past seven games. His .471 AVG last week is enough for me to pull the trigger on a bargain bin second baseman.
3B - Nolan Arenado, COL (vs. OAK) - $5,500
The equation is simple for Arenado: facing a lefty at home? Then, yes. Arenado has a remarkable .492 ISO at home against left-handed pitchers this season. The price tag may seem extraordinary, but I’m willing to add a bat that could do some serious damage on Friday night.
SS - Paul DeJong, STL (vs. CHC) - $3,600
This decision was mainly guided by price. Also, I didn’t love the expensive options in the player pool. Sure, Story is a stud, but it’s difficult to add Arenado and Story into a lineup and still have room for other players. As far as cheaper options are concerned, DeJong was the lowest I’d go. He’s not a complete punt play, either. Since 2017, DeJong owns a .260 ISO against left-handed pitchers, which is second to only Jedd Gyorko amongst the Cardinals roster.
DraftKings DFS Outfielders
Jake Bauers and Kevin Kiermaier, TB (@ BAL) - combined $8,400
Another pitcher I’d like to target on Friday night is Andrew Cashner. This season, he’s 0-5 with a 4.97 ERA at home (3.72 ERA on the road). Bauers is best among Tampa Bay with a .254 ISO against righties (with at least 100 plate appearances). Kiermaier has notched a hit in seven of the last eight games, with three extra-base hits during that span. Plus, he could likely be the leadoff hitter for a lineup that could produce a high amount of runs on Friday night.
Curtis Granderson, TOR (@ CWS) - $3,700
Speaking of leadoff hitters, Toronto is projected to score five runs on Friday and the Grandyman could get the party started for the Blue Jays. Granderson has struggled as of late (.182 AVG in the past week), so his price tag has dropped ($3,900 in his last contest). We’ll take advantage of the deal and add the third Toronto bat to our lineup.
