We are down to four teams that can win the World Series. All four are in action today. This is one of the few classic slates that we have left for baseball. Let's enjoy it while we still can! The showdowns just aren't as exciting.
It will be cool in Hotlanta. Well....cooler than usual. It's going to be a beautiful day for baseball in Houston as the Astros try to go up 2-0 on Boston before the series heads east.
This article will provide you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 10/16/2021. The lineup will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers
Max Scherzer - LAD at ATL ($8,600)
The end of the regular season was just a hiccup. Max pitched very well in a losing effort in Game 3, racking up 31.4 DraftKings points. He closed the series off in style, saving the decisive Game 5 to send the Dodgers to the NLCS. That inning in Game 5 shouldn't affect Scherzer's workload here. He only faced the Braves once this year, but it was a good one. He allowed just three hits in six shutout innings while striking out nine. We could see a similar outing here tonight.
Max Fried - ATL vs. LAD($6,800)
Fried led the majors with a 1.46 ERA since August 1. He did face the Dodgers twice this season. He gave up three runs in 12 innings, but two of the three runs came on homers. Fried wasn't as dominant against the Dodgers as the rest of the league, but he held his own against them. His price is ridiculously cheap for the kind of start that Fried is capable of. He's a punt in price only.
Other Options: Nathan Eovaldi ($7,700), Luis Garcia ($7,500)

DraftKings DFS Infielders
Christian Vazquez - C, BOS at HOU ($3,500)
With only four catchers to choose from, the pickings are slim. Vazquez is as good as any. He had six hits against Tampa in the ALDS and he hit .304 in seven games against Houston pitching this season. I'm in no hurry to pay up at catcher. Vazquez has put up good enough numbers for the price at the position.
Freddie Freeman - 1B, ATL vs. LAD ($4,900)
Max Scherzer does give up some homers with his strikeouts. Freeman has hit three bombs against Scherzer in his career, but overall he has only 11 hits in 47 tries. Still, Freeman's home park caters to left-handed power. There aren't any 1B that I love tonight, so I'm chasing power.
Jose Altuve - 2B, HOU vs. BOS ($5,100)
Altuve is 7-for-22 with three solo homers, a steal, and six runs scored in his career against Eovaldi. Altuve comes into the series on a nice hot streak. He scored at least one run in every game of the Chicago series and he has homered in the last two games. He's on fire anyway. Hitting against a pitcher that he has done well against is just a nice bonus.
Justin Turner - 3B, LAD at ATL ($4,300)
Turner is 7-for-16 with two solo homers and four runs scored in his career against Fried. I'm not lining up to chase Fried, but he did allow two homers in 12 innings to the Dodgers this year. It's best to use a targeted attack against Fried. Turner is my main target.
Carlos Correa - SS, HOU vs. BOS ($4,100)
Altuve isn't the only Houston bat running hot coming into this series. Correa had five hits and scored four runs in the series against the White Sox. He kicked off this series with a three-hit effort last night, including a home run. That's the third homer for Correa in the last nine games. I really like Correa for the price here.
DraftKings DFS Outfielders
Mookie Betts - OF, LAD at ATL ($5,100)
Something happens with Mookie in the playoffs. He hit .450 in the ALDS against the Giants with a homer, four RBI, two steals, and two runs scored. I don't really care who he's playing. Mookie is one guy you don't want to face in the postseason.
Kyle Tucker - OF, HOU vs. BOS ($4,400)
I like both Tucker and Yordan Alvarez here, but Tucker is running hotter right now if you're only using one. Tucker homered twice in the series against the White Sox while picking up five hits. Yordan also homered in the series, but he only had three hits. I'll roll with Tucker unless I run a Houston stack.
Joc Pederson - OF, ATL vs. LAD ($3,400)
How nice is it that Joc has a shot at his former team? Pederson only had three hits in the series against Milwaukee, but two of them left the yard and he drove in five runs in the series. I like all-or-nothing shots against a guy like Scherzer. that make Pederson the perfect GPP punt.
