Over the weekend, a fan got a lot of attention at the Philadelphia-Washington game. Apparently, a gentleman wrote a sign that read, “I drove 4000 miles to see Bruce Harper!” Of course, anyone who knows baseball knows that his first name is Bryce, not Bruce. Further investigation revealed that the fan actually intended to misspell Harper’s first name, just so the young phenom would see it a potentially come over. It was fun while it lasted.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for DraftKings on 4/18/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on DraftKings.
Without further ado, here are the picks.
DFS Lineup Stacks to Target on DraftKings
Cincinnati Reds vs. Jordan Lyles (RHP)
The good news is that the Rockies and Reds aren’t playing in Coors Field. The bad news, however, is that they are still pitching in a hitter friendly park. In two games this year, Lyles has totalled -3.4 DraftKings fantasy points. Now, I’m no mathematician, but that’s pretty bad. Get those lefties bats from Cincy in your lineup.
San Francisco Giants vs. Archie Bradley (RHP)
There’s no question that Bradley has some talent. But he also has a propensity to give up the big inning. The Giants aren’t an offensive juggernaut, but they still have a ton of talent on their roster, especially from the left side of the plate. There’s also some question marks around Bradley’s availability on Monday, so make sure to stay up to the minute with what’s happening with the Diamondbacks’ starter.
DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on DraftKings
Noah Syndergaard, NYM at PHI - $12,100
The young guns of the Mets’ staff have overall looked relatively inconsistent. Syndergaard, however, appears to be in mid-season form in April. He should have no problem mowing down the Phillies..
Jake Peavy, SF vs. ARI - $7,300
Night games in San Francisco are typically low scoring affairs and Peavy has put up some solid numbers over the last year when starting in San Fran.
I don’t like starting pitchers who face each other, but Jerad Eickhoff ($8,000) against the Mets could be a sneaky tourney pick.
DFS Infielders to Consider on DraftKings
Catcher (C)
Wellington Castillo, ARI at SF - $2,700
The day off on Sunday was much needed for Castillo, as he was coming off that 14 inning game on Saturday. He has been relatively streaky this season, so I am betting that he will be somewhat hot on Monday. Of course, he could also go 0-fer with [enter number here] strikeouts. So plug him in tourneys.
First Base (1B)
Justin Bour, MIA vs. WAS - $3,300
Nationals’ starter Tanner Roark has not looked good, well, at all this baseball season. Lefties are tagging him pretty well and Bour is a guy that always seems to be at his best against the Nationals.
Also consider Joey Votto ($4,600) going up against Lyles.
Second Base (2B)
Joe Panik, SF vs. ARI - $3,500
Over the weekend, we saw Panik’s price explode from $2,800 to $3,600 overnight. That’s quite an intense rocket, but it should tell you that he is relatively underpriced. You can still get a little more value out of his current price tag.
Shortstop (SS)
Zack Cozart, CIN vs. COL - $3,100
Cozart has started the season red hot and has a hit in all eight games. His OPS is a healthy 1.124 and he sits in a favorable spot in the lineup to get plenty of at-bats on Monday.
Make sure to roster Troy Tulowtizki ($3,900) if you play in the early contests.
Third Base (3B)
Nolan Arenado, COL at. CIN - $4,700
Home or away, it doesn’t matter for Arenado. He blasted two solo shots on Sunday in Wrigley Field, proving that he doesn’t need any thin air to kill it. Shorter Great American Ballpark awaits.
DFS Outfielders to Consider on DraftKings
Bryce Harper, WAS at MIA - $4,200
I love Bruce Harper!
Jay Bruce, CIN vs. COL - $4,200
Bruce had himself a nice weekend against the Cardinals and I expect a lot of those good vibes to carry over into Monday.
Yasmany Tomas, ARI at SF - $2,800
Tomas’ bat woke up over the weekend as he recorded his first multi-homerun game of his career. With a price tag of less than $3k, this is your typically buy low selection.
