DraftKings CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Daily College Fantasy Football (9/8/23)

Jalon Daniels - Fantasy Football Rankings, College FB, QB, NFL Draft Sleepers

Mike's DraftKings daily fantasy college football lineup picks for Friday (9/8/23). His CFB DFS lineup picks and DFS sleepers will help you win.

The NFL took our Thursday away from opening weekend in the league that thinks it's more important, but we still have Friday! It may only be two games, but there is still some money to be made if you're willing to get different!

Indiana, after a strong showing against the Buckeyes, takes on Larry Bird U in Bloomington to start things off. The nightcap features Illinois visiting Lawrence and a Kansas team that reminded a lot of people that college football was back last Thursday. Let's hope there's not a repeat of that debacle.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/8/23, locking at 7 PM Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks

Jalon Daniels, Kansas ($7,500)

Honestly, we should have seen that stunt by Kansas coming. They didn't need Daniels against Missouri State and everyone knew it. They will need him against Illinois. I'm glad we get him at a discount here because this won't be a ceiling game from Daniels. That Illinois defense is legit. His rushing ability should give Daniels a good floor. He's still an elite option on a slate with only two full-time quarterbacks available to choose from.

Luke Altmyer, Illinois ($6,400)

It was thought that Altmyer might split snaps with John Paddock last week, but he was in there the whole time against Toledo, even when things got tough. That tells me Altmyer is their guy. Who can blame them? Altmyer did turn the ball over once, but he threw two touchdowns, only had eight incompletions, and ran for 69 yards. This Kansas defense is not great. Altmyer is going to be a sneaky source of points, and he's the guy in my only one-QB lineup.

Also consider: Tayven Jackson, Indiana ($7,700)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs

Devin Neal, Kansas ($6,300)

The Kansas offense doesn't change much from quarterback to quarterback. What I liked to see was Neal more involved in the passing game than he was in 2022. Daniel Hishaw was the main receiving back for the Jayhawks last year. Hishaw didn't catch a pass in Week 1 while Neal caught three for 25 yards and a score. This is important since Kansas won't have a ton of running room against the Illini.

Reggie Love III, Illinois ($4,400)

Josh McCray outscored Love against Toledo, but that was because he poached a touchdown. Love still got more carries, though the split was only about 60/40. Still, the guy who got 60% of the carries is a touch cheaper than the other guy. I'm still riding with Love.

Also consider: Jaylin Lucas, Indiana ($6,200); Josh McCray, Illinois ($4,500)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers

Pat Bryant, Illinois ($6,400)

Bryant stole the show with a pair of touchdowns against Toledo, but the target share between him and Williams was the same. It could be Williams who gets two touchdowns here. Neither one is a bad option, and I find myself stacking both with Altmyer and leaving the backs alone.

Isaiah Williams, Illinois ($5,500)

Williams is still the more proven of the Illinois receivers, but the arrival of a guy like Altmyer means the Illinois offense is capable of sustaining more than one receiver in DFS and fantasy. That's unheard of for Illinois. The price isn't a deterrent on either one since we're not scraping the barrel here. There's more than enough salary to go around.

Dakota Caton, Indiana State ($4,300)

Caton was the only bright spot for the Sycamores in their season-opening loss to Eastern Illinois. He hauled in six passes for 70 yards. No Sycamore found the end zone, so the lack of a touchdown isn't concerning. His target share is what I'm concerned with. Only one other receiver was targeted half as much as Caton.

Also consider: Cam Camper, Indiana ($6,700); Lawrence Arnold, Kansas ($6,000)

DraftKings CFB Stacks:

Indiana

This is a tough one since we know that both Brendan Sorsby and Tayven Jackson will play. The Hoosiers also used three backs against Ohio State in a game that wasn't a blowout. This is going to be the way they operate. Despite Josh Henderson's spot on the depth chart, I trust Jaylin Lucas more. Camper is the receiver you want, but rotating quarterbacks and their throwing woes could result in another lackluster outing.

Illinois

Illinois is on here because they are priced right for a stack. This could be a very high-scoring game in Lawrence. I'm not opposed to game-stacking this, but Kansas will set you back a lot more and there are a lot less defined roles for the Jayhawks. I don't need to get into the Daniels mess again. Luke Grimm's status is the one really in question here. If Grimm is out, Quentin Skinner is my favorite Jayhawk outside of Daniels.

Oh...right...we're talking Illinois. You can get Altmyer and both receivers for roughly the price of Daniels and Lawrence Arnold. Throw in Reggie Love III at a very affordable price, and you can afford just about anything else you want.

Also consider: Kansas
