The first week of October brings us some more mid-week games, and therefore, more mid-week DFS tournaments! I'm all for that! We don't even have to wait for MACtion this year! Friday night we graduate to two Power Five games.

We start off in Stillwater with Kansas State coming down for a visit. A half-hour later, Nebraska plays its second Friday game of the season already as they travel to Champaign to take on the Illini. This is going to be a good one!

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 10/6/23, locking at 7:30 PM Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks

Will Howard, Kansas State ($9,000)

Howard's low mark on the season was a still-respectable 23.9 DraftKings points in the loss to Missouri. Howard didn't throw a touchdown against Central Florida before the bye but salvaged his DFS day with 64 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns on the ground. Howard has five rushing touchdowns in four games for the Wildcats this year. That kind of added bonus is what makes Howard worth paying up for.

Heinrich Haarberg, Nebraska ($5,900)

Haarberg is a throwback in that he is not really a dual-threat quarterback since his arm is questionable. But he can run. Boy, can he run. Haarberg finished second in the Nebraska state track meet in the 200m dash during his senior year of high school at Kearney Catholic. He runs. Illinois can't stop the run. Sometimes football (and DFS) really is that simple.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs

DJ Giddens, Kansas State ($6,100)

Treshaun Ward is expected to be available and to start. I'm not sure how much I believe that. At any rate, you can bet that Kansas State doesn't really want Ward injured again. The split in carries was about 60/40 in favor of Ward when both were healthy. I expect it to be around 50/50 now. It sucks for DFS when trying to figure out which back will get hot. This week I'm content taking a hot Giddens over a cold Ward.

Anthony Grant, Nebraska ($5,400)

Yes, the quarterback is basically another running back, but Grant has hardly anything behind him. Rahmir Johnson and Gabe Ervin are both out. Ajay Allen transferred to Miami. Nebraska will throw more if and when Jeff Sims takes the QB job back, but for now, this is 90s-era Nebraska football. Run 50 times and play defense.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers

Isaiah Williams, Illinois ($6,400)

Williams leads the Big Ten(14) with 30 receptions and 446 yards on the season. The drawback is that he hasn't found the end zone yet. Still, with that kind of volume, I'm willing to take the shot on Williams. Nebraska's pass defense has been solid but unspectacular this year. In a game in which Illinois will have trouble running the ball and might be playing from behind, this feels like another plus game for Williams.

Billy Kemp IV, Nebraska ($4,900)

The Virginia transfer was invisible in Nebraska's first game. He has become a larger part of the offense since. With Haarberg at quarterback, Kemp has nine receptions for 123 yards and two carries for 13 yards in the last two weeks. The touchdowns should come, but with that kind of volume for this price, it doesn't really matter.

Jaden Bray, Oklahoma State ($4,700)

The revolving door at quarterback (and running back) is neutering the Oklahoma State offense. All of the receivers are inconsistent because some do better with one quarterback than the others. Bray isn't immune to that, but it seems as though he has adjusted better than others. Bray has at least three receptions and at least 40 yards in each game. That's a nice floor for a value play, but the upside isn't all that high. Bray hasn't found the end zone in his 17 receptions.

Also consider: Phillip Brooks, Kansas State ($6,500); Ben Sinnott, Kansas State ($5,400); Thomas Fidone, Nebraska ($4,100); Josh Fleeks, Nebraska ($3,900)

Kansas State

Will Howard is the only guy with an inflated price. Both backs are the same price, and I really have no issue using both because Kansas State loves to run the ball. Brooks and Sinnott are the main targets. You can use all five main Kansas State pieces with Nebraska value plays and come up with a pretty good lineup.
