DraftKings CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Daily College Fantasy Football (10/4/23)

Mike's DraftKings daily fantasy college football lineup picks for Wednesday (10/4/23). His CFB DFS lineup picks and DFS sleepers will help you win.

The first week of October brings us some more mid-week games, and therefore, more mid-week DFS tournaments! I'm all for that! We don't even have to wait for MACtion this year!

Instead, it's Conference USA Wednesday. We open up in Murfreesboro with FBS newcomer Jacksonville State making the trip north. An hour later, we have Florida International heading to Las Cruces to take on New Mexico State.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 10/4/23, locking at 8 PM Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

College Football Betting Picks October 4:

I don't have the full odds article done yet, so we are just going to do this here. You know the drill!

Jacksonville State at Middle Tennessee State (-3.5)

Betting Confidence Factor: 2

I like the Jacksonville State defense, but this offense is likely too much on the road. Give me MTSU. They hung with Missouri.

Florida International at New Mexico State (-6.5)

Betting Confidence Factor: 2

I don't know that I buy this. FIU looks pretty good (for them) right now. Give me the Panthers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks

Logan Smothers, Jacksonville State ($7,100)

It feels safe to say that the Nebraska transfer has taken the starting job from Zion Webb. Webb didn't complete any of his four passes against Sam Houston. Meanwhile, Smothers completed 16 of 28 passing while throwing for three touchdowns and rushing for another. Middle Tennessee's defensive stats are a bit skewed since they played Alabama and Missouri, but the dual threat of Smothers at this price is too good to pass up.

Keyone Jenkins, Florida International ($6,700)

While all four starting quarterbacks on this slate are good runners, I'm going with the highest upside here. Jenkins is still just 18 years old. The Liberty defense shut him down, but the Aggies have struggled most of the season. Jenkins is more of a GPP-only play. Pavia is the safer pick in cash games and is still plenty affordable.

Also consider: Diego Pavia, New Mexico State ($7,300); Nick Vattiato, Middle Tennessee State ($6,900)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs

Malik Jackson, Jacksonville State ($6,900)

Jackson has tapped 100 rushing yards in back-to-back games. He has also hauled in five passes and scored a touchdown in that span. The Gamecocks are moving the ball much better with Smothers as the quarterback. That should continue against a Middle Tennessee State defense that allowed 207 rushing yards to Murray State in Week 3.

Star Thomas, New Mexico State ($5,500)

New Mexico State loves to run, but Pavia and the other backs take work away from Thomas. However, he's active in the passing game as well. Thomas has 11 receptions in five games and has scored a touchdown through the air to go with his three on the ground. The Aggies spread the wealth in the run game, but Pavia loves to dump it off to Thomas at least a couple of times per game.

Also consider: Frank Peasant, Middle Tennessee State ($5,400); Monte Watkins, New Mexico State ($4,300)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers

Kris Mitchell, Florida International ($6,400)

Mitchell has more than double the receptions of the second-leading receiver for the Panthers this year. Jenkins is a better runner than a passer at this point of his college career, but that doesn't mean he won't throw. When Jenkins does throw, there's a better than 50% chance that it's going to Mitchell. Target hogs are the kings of DFS.

Holden Willis, Middle Tennessee State ($5,600)

Willis, not Elijah Metcalf, has led the Blue Raiders in receptions in each of the last two games. The South Florida transfer took a bit to get going, but 15 of his 19 receptions on the season have come in the last two games. Some of that has to do with defenses paying more attention to Metcalf. Some has to do with Vattiato and Willis developing some chemistry. At this point, it's stronger between Vattiato and Willis than Vattiato and Metcalf.

Jonathan Brady, New Mexico State ($5,200)

Brady is the leading receiver in the worst passing offense on the slate. That said, three of his 10 receptions have gone for touchdowns. He is the big-play threat in the Aggies offense. Brady is a solid GPP dart on a slate full of iffy receivers.

Also consider: Elijah Metcalf, Middle Tennessee State ($6,000); Justin Olson, Middle Tennessee State ($5,400); Perry Carter, Jacksonville State ($4,000)

DraftKings CFB Stacks:

Middle Tennessee State

Jacksonville State just got taken to overtime by a Sam Houston team that had one touchdown through their first three FBS games before last week. The only question is how many pieces of this offense do you want? Vattiato is the obvious piece along with Metcalf and Willis. Both backs (Peasant and Jaiden Credle) have strong workloads and catch passes out of the backfield. A five-piece MTSU stack is not the worst idea I've heard.

Also consider: Florida International, New Mexico State
