I'm loving these weeknight slates. You only need to be one or two players away from a chalk lineup to win a GPP. This is where the RotoBaller optimizer really comes in handy. Ownership is high on many players, with only four teams in action. The optimizer can tell you who you need to pivot off of. We have a couple of Power Four teams in action tonight along with the Fun Belt.
We start in West Virginia with Marshall hosting Georgia State. The nightcap is in Blacksburg with the Hokies hosting Boston College.
In this article, I will provide you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 10/17/24, locking at 7 p.m. Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions for players at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the salary scale's high, middle, and lower end. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks
Thomas Castellanos, Boston College ($7.9K)
Boston College Quarterback Thomas Castellanos stats so far:
45 - 70 (64.3 CMP%) - 729 yards - 10 TDS/2 INTS | 43 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown.
Castellanos has developed nicely as a passer, Boston College is a very solid team.
— New England Sports Review (@nesportreview) October 3, 2024
The thing that stands out more this season with Castellanos is that he is not running as much. It's worse for DFS purposes, but his improved passing helps get back some of those points. The fact that Castellanos takes fewer hard hits can't hurt either.
Braylon Braxton, Marshall ($6.6K)
I don't know what Marshall's infatuation with Stone Earle is. Braxton accounted for five touchdowns in the win over Appalachian State and the Herd still split the game between Earle and Braxton last week. Braxton was the better quarterback for the Herd and DFS reasons because of his rushing ability. If forced to go with a QB from this game, it should be Braxton.
Also consider: Kyron Drones, Virginia Tech ($8.2K); Christian Veilleux, Georgia State ($6K)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs
Bhayshul Tuten, Virginia Tech ($8K)
Price is a little more prohibitive on this slate, but we all know that volume is king. Tuten has at least 15 touches in every game and has gone over 20 in four of the last five. Stanford held him under 100 yards for the first time since Week 1, but they still couldn't keep him out of the end zone. Tuten has scored at least once in every game.
#Hokies RB Bhayshul Tuten is quietly having a dominant season through 5 games:
-9 rushing TDs; T-10
-605 rush yards
-Combined 498 rush yards and 7 TDs through four games against Marshall, ODU, Rutgers and Miami
-at least one rush TD in each game this season— Miles Jordan (@Miles_Jordan_) October 14, 2024
A.J. Turner, Marshall ($4.9K)
North Carolina State transfer Jordan Houston was supposed to be the featured back for the Herd this year, but Turner's efficiency has moved him to the top of the RB depth chart. He is averaging 9.6 yards per carry on the season and 90 yards per game. Georgia State has allowed 174.8 rushing yards per game and 2.4 touchdowns on the ground.
Also consider: Treshaun Ward, Boston College ($5K); Freddie Brock, Georgia State ($4.7K)
DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers
Ted Hurst, Georgia State ($6.9K)
When dealing with a slate of teams that love to run the ball, we have to take a look at targets. Hurst has 23 receptions over the last four games. Both quarterbacks actively look for him anywhere on the field. He has found the end zone five times in that span. Hurst has been old reliable after the Wreck shut him down in Week 1.
Lewis Bond, Boston College ($5K)
Bond has 20 receptions in the last three games alone. Those have only gone for 202 yards and one touchdown, but that kind of volume is hard to find in this price range. It is worth noting that 181 of those yards game in two games with Castellanos at quarterback.
Da'Quan Felton, Virginia Tech ($3.9K)
It's no coincidence that Drones had his best game of the season in the same game that Felton did. Jaylin Lane is the more targeted and more talented receiver, but Tech is at its best when both Felton and Lane are heavily involved. Look for Felton to have more of a role going forward.
Also consider: Jaylin Lane, Virginia Tech ($5.7K); Dorian Fleming, Georgia State ($4K); Kamari Morales, Boston College ($3.2K)
DraftKings CFB Stacks
Georgia State
I don't know that I'm running a four or five-man stack of any team tonight, but I am running a stack of the Georgia State passing game. Hurst and Fleming are the receivers we want no matter who is at quarterback.
Zach Gibson didn't see his first action until last week against Old Dominion, but he completed all six of his passes and is now listed as a "co-starter" with Veilleux. I want whoever starts at QB in this one.
Also consider: Marshall, Boston College
