The NL gets the night to themselves tonight for Game 3 of the NLCS as the series moves east to Philly. We are all square at one game each, which makes for some exciting baseball. Let's get to it!
For showdown mode on DraftKings, we pick one captain who costs 1.5x his normal salary, but he also scores 1.5x the points. We must have at least one player from each team and relievers are fair game if you think you have a bead on which relievers will be used. On FanDuel, the format is a bit different. No player salaries are multiplied, but you get one MVP who scores double points and one start that scores 1.5x points along with three utility slots. Oh...and it's only hitters.
This article will provide you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 10/21/22. The lineup will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. It’s also important to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. MLB DFS Captain Options
Joe Musgrove ($16,200)
This may not look like an elite pitching matchup on paper, but if you dig into BvP, it certainly seems to be. Musgrove didn't pitch well against the Phillies back in June, but if you look at what he's done over his last four starts – against the Giants, Mets, and Dodgers twice – it's hard to move off of Musgrove. In those four starts, he allowed just two runs in 24 innings on just 13 hits. The walks are a little problematic, but the 28 strikeouts are a nice touch.
Bryce Harper ($15,000 DK; $9,500 FD)
There is no elite BvP to choose from today, so we'll go with the hottest hitter as the alternative to MusGOAT. And he's in the other dugout, so this is mostly a leverage play. There are two ways to build a lineup tonight, but I prefer anchoring the top with little risk. Harper is getting hot at the right time. Harper has four homers and seven RBI in eight playoff games this year. The bad news? All three of his hits against Musgrove are singles.
Star/MVP options: Manny Machado ($14,700 DK; $9,000 FD); Ranger Suarez ($15,600)

DraftKings/FanDuel DFS Utility Options
Along with the others I consider for the captain slot, these can be good utility plays as well.
Josh Bell ($7,000 DK; $7,000 FD)
If you're going after the pitchers, I would mostly use the San Diego side. Suarez has struggled a bit in the playoffs while Musgrove continues on cruise control. Bell came up huge in Game 2 with three hits including his first homer since the first game of the playoffs. Bell has one prior homer against Suarez, but that is his only hit off of him in eight at-bats.
Jurickson Profar ($7,800 DK; $6,500 FD)
If you are on the pitching side of this game, I love playing other guys who get sure points in the same lineup. That's Profar. He has drawn a walk in all but two of the nine playoff games for the Padres and has three multi-hit efforts in that span. They're empty points – Profar only has one homer, five RBI, and six runs scored with no steals in those nine games – but points are points and he's reasonably priced.
Trent Grisham ($5,800 DK; $5,000 FD)
Grisham drew the collar in the home games of the NLCS after coming up huge in the Wild Card and NLDS series. Given his playoff success to this point and the fact that Suarez hasn't gone deep into games, I like Grisham to get at least a couple of at-bats even if he doesn't start the game. This is the ultimate GPP play here if you're trying to leverage ownership. I wouldn't chance it in cash though.
Other Options: Ha-Seong Kim ($7,600 DK; $6,000 FD); Nick Castellanos ($7,400 DK; $6,500 FD); Wil Myers ($6,400 DK; $5,500 FD)
