ANALYSIS: Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson had high expectations entering the year. The star wide receiver had a disappointing 2022 season after scoring zero touchdowns. However, fantasy players expected the veteran to have a bounce-back year after watching the Steelers’ offense in the preseason.
Unfortunately, Pittsburgh hasn’t lived up to the preseason hype. Johnson has struggled again this year, missing four games with a hamstring injury. He is the WR57 for the season, averaging 7.9 half-point PPR fantasy points. The veteran wide receiver had 34 receptions on 60 targets for 418 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 2023.
Last week, Johnson broke out of his slump, scoring 11.3 fantasy points in the loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He had scored fewer than 7.1 fantasy points in the previous three contests. However, the veteran wide receiver had his Week 13 fantasy performance saved by a touchdown. Johnson had only four receptions on five targets for 33 receiving yards in the loss to Arizona.
Meanwhile, the former Toledo star faces the New England Patriots tomorrow night. They have surrendered 29.3 fantasy points per game to wide receivers, the 12th-most in the NFL. Thankfully, the matchup makes Johnson startable in three wide receiver leagues.
