ANALYSIS: So far this season, Didi Gregorius is turning in numbers comparable to his modest career stats, except when it comes to average. On the strength of a June stretch in which he's hitting .368, Gregorius is slashing .330/.351/.500. His splits are almost dead even in regard to home/road or lefty/righty matchups, so there are no exceptions in terms of value. With four homers and eight RBI in the last two weeks, Gregorius is on pace to match last year's career high of 20 HR and 70 RBI. Put all together, you have the making of a potential top-10 fantasy shortstop.
While Gregorius does have an elevated .351 BABIP right now, his evolving approach could still lead to more hits overall. Every year since he was a rookie, he has become increasingly aggressive at the dish. His walk rate has dipped each season, down to 3.1% currently, while his 58.7% Swing% is the highest of his career. His contact rate is actually lower than last season by six points, so even if some of his luck goes away on batted balls, it could be offset by an increase in overall contact. Gregorius is a solid MI play in any mixed league and could even serve as a starting shortstop in many of them.
