Did The Packers Trade Aaron Rodgers To The Jets?

The Packers and Jets spent the past several weeks working out a trade. Thankfully, the 2023 NFL Draft forced both teams to get a deal done. Earlier today, the two sides finally got it done, making Rodgers the Jets' new starting quarterback.

Green Bay will send Rodgers and a fifth-round pick to New York for a second and sixth-round pick. The Jets will also send the Packers a conditional 2024 second-round pick that will become a first-rounder if Rodgers plays at least 65% of the snaps. Furthermore, the two teams will flip first-round picks in this year’s draft.

What Does The Trade Mean For Fantasy Football?

Everyone expected this deal to get done once Rodgers announced he wanted to play for the Jets. However, how does it impact the fantasy football world?

First, anyone who kept Jordan Love on their dynasty roster is jumping for joy. The former first-round pick will finally be a starting quarterback. However, we don’t know if he will be a fantasy star or a bust.

Meanwhile, all the New York pass catchers have seen their fantasy value skyrocket. Rodgers is a massive upgrade over Zach Wilson, Mike White, and everyone else the Jets tried at quarterback last season. However, the biggest winner is Garrett Wilson.

The Offensive Rookie of the Year award winner was the WR19 last year, averaging 10.2 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. Now Wilson gets a future Hall of Famer throwing him the ball as the clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver. Fantasy players should expect a top-15 or better finish from Wilson in 2023.
