BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 33% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: Prior to his call up in 2015, Devon Travis wasn't a very highly regarded prospect. However, he immediately burst onto the scene hitting an exceptional .325/.393/.625 with 6 HR in his first month in the big leagues. He didn't flash a lot of power after that first month, but continued his hot hitting after a rough May. He finished the season at .304/.361/.498 before being sidelined with a shoulder injury.
Travis hasn't quite repeated his strong rookie season, but has been a solid contributor at the keystone. He has more power upside than almost anybody at the position, as his full season pace of around 22 HR this season was bested only by Brian Dozier at his position last year. His spot at the top of one of the best lineups in baseball will also give him a chance to score a lot of runs. The biggest concern with Travis now is that he's sitting every few days in favor of Darwin Barney, and probably will continue to do so while he's hot. However, it's hard to envision the journeyman Barney being a threat to his long term playing time. For owners of hurt stars like Matt Carpenter, or the suspended Dee Gordon, Travis has the potential to be a season saving acquisition.
