ANALYSIS: While Devin Vassell's role in Pop's Spurs wasn't great last season, it wasn't bad either with Vass playing 62 games and 17 MPG. He's stepped up his game this season with a healthier dose of games and minutes as he's played in 42 of the Spurs' 50 games (through Friday) over the year while logging an average of 25 MPG on the season. And of course, the larger opportunity share has allowed Vassell to rack up better stats all across the board on a per-game basis.

Vassell is obviously not going to start many games with a crowded squad full of wings in San Antonio. That said, Vassell is part of the third most-used lineup by the Spurs this season even though he comes off the pine more often than not. Although that five-man unit is not the best ever (minus-11.1 net rating), Vessell is also part of the best net-rating lineup of the Spurs this season (+49.8 on 32:12 over the season; yes, a minuscule sample, I know). Vessell has been good to drop 10+ points in eight of the nine games played in the last two-week span of matches while averaging nearly 13 PPG in that timeframe. The shooting has been a little bit up and down, ranging from 27.3% to 70% (!).

Now, looking at a slightly more recent sample of games (from Jan. 19 through Friday), Vassell has been scorching hot shooting 48.7% from the field while hoisting almost 12 FGA a game. It's been 13 games in a row for Vassell attempting double-digit shots going back to Jan. 1, and from that day on he's finished only one of those 13 games without hitting at least one three-point shot. Vassell is averaging 2.3 3PM in the 2022 calendar year while pairing that with 5 RPG, 1.5 APG, and 1.3 stocks per game. No turnovers at sight (0.7 TOPG on the season, two in the past seven games combined) boost his value too, as do his 44/35/75 splits on 10 FGA and 5 3PA per game with a usage rate above 18%.
