ANALYSIS: A lot of folks were surprised by Rose's exploits last season playing in Detroit. Well, the writing was on the wall since his last season in Minnesota when he already 51 games starting 13 of them and putting up very similar averages to those he reached last season with the Pistons. Rose is not your MVP anymore, but he's an off-the-pine beast as not many in the NBA.
Rose averaged 31 FPPG last season logging 26.0 mpg in his 50 games played. On a per-minute basis, Rose ranked as the 43rd-best player in all fantasy basketball with an average of 1.19 FP/min. Removing players with fewer than 1,200 minutes played over the full 2020 regular season, Rose jumps up to the 33rd position in that category. The average ADP of the 32 players above him is at 27.7, more than 110 picks above Rose's at the time of this writing. (!!!)
Rose, surrounded by mediocre players and part of a second unit finished the year with an average 18-2-5 line, somehow, and shooting .490/.306/.871 from the floor/three-point/free-throw line. And it is not that he did so on low volume. Only six players had similar shooting splits while attempting 15+ fga and 2.5+ 3pa per game: Giannis, LeBron, Davis, Middleton, and Booker. Not a league winning given his bench-cut upside, but definitely a great player roster at a very sweet discount on draft boards.
